We are gearing up for our most exciting and challenging Asset Management Period yet, known as AMP8, this will see us deliver a programme of work larger than we’ve ever delivered before. We’ll be embarking on a new kind of project delivery focusing on nature-based solutions like wetlands and urban drainage schemes.

With such an exciting portfolio of projects planned for AMP8 to keep the water flowing across the region, our ability to manage our work and outperform against our customer’s expectations will come under greater scrutiny.
To help us meet the challenge we are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to join our Water team.
What will you be doing as our new Lead Electrical Engineer?
As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you will provide engineering technical direction to the discipline engineers in your area. You will provide design support for schemes and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
You will be responsible for the checking and reviewing of electrical design deliverables produced by other electrical engineers in the @one Alliance and supply chain to ensure the processes and procedures are followed. You will be required to coach and mentor junior and less experienced members of the electrical team.
Key Accountabilities:
Regularly report to the Principal Engineer.
Collaborate with Principal Engineer, Portfolio Design Managers and Project Design Managers to acquire upcoming project milestones and design review dates.
Check specifications, schedules, datasheets, drawings, and 3D models to ensure quality, safety, and technical standards are adhered to.
Coach and mentor junior and less experienced members of the electrical team.
Review construction site and supply chain design queries and change requests to ensure quick but accurate responses and/or the design remains suitable.
Input into Construction Design management (CDM) and commissioning strategy meetings.
Update and collaborate with the Principal Engineer and Design Managers where potential improvements can be implemented.
Liaise with other departments and project teams with respect to design requirements.
Manage quality through the design workflow review in line with the project timeline.
Support other leads and discipline engineers to deliver their engineering outputs to time and quality standards.
Drive sustainability and low carbon designs.
Drive offsite build, modular construction, and repeatable solutions.
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours…..
To be successful in this position you will have an engineering, or equivalent, degree or be able to demonstrate a degree level of knowledge through relevant experience and preferably be Chartered, or working towards, Chartered status. Experience of water-sector assets and capital projects is essential. You will be comfortable demonstrating your knowledge of all relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice. Ideally with experience of mentoring and coaching of junior engineers. Experience of a Design & Build environment is a distinct advantage.

You ensure effective team interactions and stakeholder engagement at all levels and exhibit emotional intelligence by understanding and adapting to the needs of others, promoting diversity and inclusion. You will use your decision-making skills to inform other with sound judgment and the input of others and use your technical expertise to select the appropriate design methods, exercising independent judgement, and enhancing practices where necessary.

Mott MacDonald Bentley is a joint venture business, established in 1999 between civil engineering contractor JN Bentley and global management consultancy, Mott MacDonald.
Mott MacDonald Bentley offers fully integrated design and build services to its clients, combining the contracting expertise of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald.
This role is employed by Mott MacDonald but will involve working across the joint venture business, both with Mott MacDonald and JN Bentley colleagues.
