Taste the Future with us and kick-start your career in Quality Assurance at the home of our iconic Toblerone chocolate bars!

As a Quality Assurance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic food manufacturing environment and discover how we ensure the highest standards of quality and food safety – from raw materials to the finished product.

You will work closely with experienced Quality and Manufacturing professionals, gaining practical knowledge of quality testing, laboratory processes, hygiene controls, and continuous improvement. Throughout your internship, you will receive structured onboarding, dedicated mentorship, tailored training, and regular development conversations with your Team Lead to support your individual learning journey and career ambitions.

As part of the Quality Assurance team, you will:

  • Support and independently perform sampling, analytical, microbiological, and sensory testing of products and the production environment, in line with inspection plans, specifications, legal requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Support the evaluation and interpretation of test and analysis results and contribute to decisions related to product release, blocking, and corrective actions in case of deviations.
  • Support the release of raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished products, ensuring that quality and food safety requirements are met.
  • Review and support the management of Certificates of Analysis for raw materials and packaging materials.
  • Perform hygiene and environmental controls according to established inspection plans, including checks following cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Support the preparation and execution of sensory testing activities.
  • Maintain retention sample storage and ensure relevant documentation is kept up to date.
  • Create and update laboratory-related documents, procedures, and instructions.
  • Ensure laboratory activities are performed in accordance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), internal company standards, legal requirements, and official testing methods.
  • Support the maintenance, calibration, and compliance of laboratory equipment and testing instruments.
  • Assist with ordering laboratory consumables and maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment.
  • Work in a safety- and environmentally-conscious manner, following applicable regulations, legal requirements, and internal policies.

During the internship, you will benefit from:

  • A dedicated mentor who will guide and support you throughout your internship journey.
  • Collaboration with multiple departments, including Quality, Production, Engineering, and other cross-functional teams, giving you a broader understanding of how a world-class manufacturing site operates.
  • The opportunity to contribute to quality-related projects, process improvements, and new implementations.
  • Participation in internal working groups focused on problem-solving, continuous improvement, and new developments in production.
  • Opportunities to support and participate in employee training initiatives, helping you develop your communication and collaboration skills.
  • Tailored training and learning opportunities adapted to your individual development needs and career goals.
  • Regular development conversations with your Team Lead to review your progress, discuss your achievements, and identify areas for further growth.

You would be a great fit if you have:

  • Final-year student status or recent graduation in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
  • An interest in Quality Assurance, food safety, laboratory testing, and manufacturing processes.
  • A structured and analytical mindset with good attention to detail.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Fluency in English at a working level.
  • German is very beneficial to have.
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work effectively in a team.
  • A responsible approach to following quality, safety, hygiene, and compliance requirements.

What we offer:

  • Paid internship with meaningful responsibilities and hands-on experience. Duration is flexible.
  • Structured onboarding and dedicated mentoring through our Taste the Future internship program.
  • Personalized training and development support aligned with your individual growth goals.
  • Regular feedback and development conversations with your Team Lead.
  • The opportunity to work on real Quality Assurance and continuous improvement projects.
  • Cross-functional exposure and collaboration with teams across the Bern manufacturing site.
  • Experience in an international company with strong quality standards, a safety-first culture, and a commitment to excellence.
  • The opportunity to learn how we make one of the world's most iconic chocolate products – Toblerone.
