We are currently seeking a Customs Leader specialized to Customs Compliance procedures and management with Import/Export experience as well as international shipping knowledge.
This key role will be responsible for leading excellence in customs management and compliance in the UK region; ensuring that the provision of this service is fully compliant with customs rules and requirements as well as other relevant bodies.
This role will be based in Bounville, UK for a Customs Team Leader in Customs Tower Team, leading import customs process with provision of Customs Compliance Services for Great Britain. This role will report directly to Customs Tower Manager remotely.
How you will contribute
You will:
- Support the Customs Compliance controls
- Lead HMRC customs periodic audits
- Ensure customs operational compliance across Mondelēz business in the UK, covering all product categories
- Lead customs related operational activities in the UK
- Support Day to day Customs Operations for import requirements especially for road & sea freight movements in the UK
- Maintain SOP including flowcharts for customs import procedures in line with Customs Brokerage service
- Develop and implement company policies and procedures designed to achieve full compliance with Customs laws and regulations for import & export documentation requirements
- Leading all aspects of Imports including simplified customs procedures (IP/OP)
- Monitoring the booking of imports via INET in-house computer system and manage pre-alerts from plants, cooperate with Customs Brokers, Carriers
- Handling Customs queries / supporting with Day-to-Day operations import
- Liaise with the Customs Brokers
- Managing effective relationships with Government Authorities involved in Trade compliance
- Verify and maintain Tariff Classification
- Review Customs declarations
- Review Deferment Statements
- Liaise with the following business partners: Customs Authority HMRC / Customs Agents/ Suppliers-carriers/ MU - plant teams / BU / DCs / WHs
- Attend industry seminars to maintain knowledge and for networking purposes
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EU & UK Customs and as well as import and export commodity codes
- Assist with the development of a digital platform for customs if required
- Monitor, verify, update, analyse and report on our company’s customs KPIs and introduce corrective actions to continuously improve our customs operations
- Coordinate customs service providers (customs brokers) to ensure punctual, timely and in-full customs clearances, in accordance to our standard operating procedures
- Communicate with internal stakeholders on duty spend, quality issues, and other losses while permanently analyzing the root causes of recurring problems
- Participate in project-related and ad hoc tasks in particular in connection with (CI) projects and tenders and customs management
Experience required:
Extensive knowledge of customs Laws and Regulations
Experience in customs and logistic
Action oriented, proactive and resourceful in solving problems
Can-do attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Highly organised and able to multitask. Organisation of own work, able to work under pressure to meet priorities and deadlines (Planning)
• Demonstrated ability and self-motivation to excel within an environment of change
• University or Equivalent Level Education
• Project and process management skills
• Working knowledge of import / export requirements especially for road freight movements in the UK/EU
• Knowledge of sea / air transport
• Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience of SAP
• Experience of MIC, Descartes (customs) and iNet logistic system would be an advantage
• English language – professional

• Knowledge of customs service provider operations
• Understanding of the cost and loss drivers connected to customs duties and processes
