The Senior Housekeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing all housekeeping operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, efficiency, and guest satisfaction. The role leads the department through effective planning, staffing, training, and cost control, while working collaboratively within a unionized environment and in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, hotel policies, and company objectives. This position manages and coordinates all housekeeping activities, including guest rooms, public areas, linen, inventory, and equipment. The Senior Housekeeping Manager ensures departmental performance aligns with hotel standards, brand expectations, and operational goals, while maintaining positive labor relations and a respectful, compliant workplace.

Qualifications & Experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure daily housekeeping operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently in compliance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
  • Supervise all housekeeping areas and team members while fostering a respectful and inclusive work environment.
  • Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation.
  • Coordinate maintenance requests, ensure timely follow-up, and verify completion.
  • Train, motivate, and evaluate staff in accordance with union guidelines to promote performance and reduce turnover.
  • Ensure adherence to departmental SOPs, systems, policies, company regulations, and applicable labor agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, equipment, supplies, and linen.
  • Control expenses and maximize efficiency in the use of supplies, equipment, and linen.
  • Conduct and oversee monthly inventories of all housekeeping-related items.
  • Foster strong collaboration with Front Office, Maintenance, and other departments.
  • Address guest complaints, lost-and-found items, and damages, escalating as required.
  • Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms and public areas to ensure readiness and standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve housekeeping operations through best practices and technology.
  • Ensure scheduled carpet shampooing and deep-cleaning programs are followed.
  • Enforce key control procedures for the issuance and return of master keys.
  • Support sustainability efforts, including recycling initiatives, without compromising quality.
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned by the Hotel Director or Head of Hotel Operations, within the scope of the union agreement.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties required to support hotel operations, consistent with job classification.
