Senior Capital Project Manager
Location: Alton Towers Resort, Staffordshire
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract Type: Permanent, salaried
We’re looking for an experienced and driven Senior Capital Project Manager to lead the planning, development, and delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital, sustainability, and operational projects across our resort. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape a 5-year capital plan, oversee major investments, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
You’ll play a key role in enhancing guest experience, improving operational efficiency, and supporting long-term sustainability goals, while embedding best-in-class project management standards across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of the resort’s capital investment programme, including large-scale and complex projects
- Manage sustainability initiatives aligned with ESG objectives and green capital allocation
- Oversee operational improvement projects to enhance assets and guest experience
- Develop and present business cases to secure funding and leadership approval
- Create detailed project briefs, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance standards are met
- Manage full project lifecycle from concept through to handover
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, health & safety standards, and internal policies
- Coordinate contractors, stakeholders, and internal teams to maintain project timelines
- Implement and manage change control processes
- Ensure proper documentation, certification, and handover of completed works
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience within a technical engineering or maintenance environment (e.g. mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled engineering)
- Demonstrable experience delivering projects of varying size and complexity
- Experience managing project frameworks, governance, and formal sign-off processes
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and industry guidance (e.g. HASAWA, PUWER, LOLER, HSG175, ADIPS)
- Experience managing budgets, including raising purchase orders and controlling costs
- Confident delivering toolbox talks, inductions, and safety briefings
- Experience operating within a safety-critical or regulated environment (Desirable)
- Background in attractions, theme parks, leisure, or heavy industrial sectors (Desirable)
- Membership of the Association for Project Management (APM)
- PRINCE2 and/or APM Project Management qualification
- IOSH Managing Safely
