Job Description

What you'll bring to the team

As a Rides Host at Thorpe Park, you’ll be right at the heart of the action, helping deliver safe, thrilling, and unforgettable experiences on our world‑class attractions. You’ll work frontline on our rides, welcoming and engaging guests, carrying out safety and height checks, and ensuring every attraction operates smoothly and efficiently.

This is a fast‑paced, active role, often working outdoors, where no two days are the same. You’ll be part of an energetic and supportive team, playing a key role in maintaining safety standards, reducing queue times, and delivering excellent customer service to millions of guests each year.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • A positive, friendly attitude and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • Confidence interacting with large numbers of guests and handling a variety of situations calmly and professionally
  • A strong focus on safety, with the ability to follow procedures and training precisely
  • Clear and effective communication skills to work closely with Zonal Managers, Leads, and fellow Hosts
  • The ability to stay focused and organised in a busy, high‑energy environment
  • A team‑player mindset, with willingness to help others and contribute to a positive working atmosphere
  • Pride in presentation, cleanliness, and maintaining high standards across attractions
  • The ability to operate rides efficiently while delivering world‑class service

Qualifications & Experience

• High level of motivation both self and in a team

• Proficient in English language

• Team Player

• Lead and uphold required standards in moments of pressure and deliver good results

• Interpersonal and relationship building skills within team and networking with other employees at the resort

• Problem solving and decision-making techniques.

• High level of personal presentation and standards

All Merlin employees are expected to adhere to all company policies and procedures as outlined in online onboarding and training curriculums. Employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, their colleagues and guests (where appropriate), in line with the Group Policy (HS001) and the law. In particular, they must ensure that they follow safe working procedures for all work activities that they undertake and they must not use any tools or equipment for which they have not been trained. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are reported to their line manager and must cooperate with any investigation as appropriate
