PR Manager - UK North

Location: Birmingham Cluster

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent, salaried

We are looking for a dynamic and proactive PR Manager – UK North to join our team. Reporting to the Head of PR – UK North and working closely with the Go To Market Director – UK North, you will play a central role in shaping, promoting, and protecting the reputation of some of the UK’s most iconic attractions. This role looks after some of our biggest brands and attractions within the Midlands and North region, including Alton Towers Resort, Warwick Castle, SEA LIFE Birmingham & Manchester, Cadbury World and more. You will help deliver high-impact PR activity that drives awareness, engagement, and positive sentiment for the attractions, the cluster, and the Merlin brand as a whole.

In this role, you will support the delivery of consumer-facing PR campaigns aligned with the cluster’s growth priorities, identifying opportunities to leverage the Merlin brand across attractions. You will manage issues and crisis management, including participation in the UK North “on call” rota, responding promptly and escalating as needed. You will work closely with PR colleagues across the UK and the globe, Go To Market teams, and external agencies to ensure campaigns are delivered on time, on budget, and fully integrated with marketing activity.

You will develop and maintain media relationships, handle press enquiries professionally, and support Merlin business leaders in engaging with local stakeholders, highlighting the positive contributions our attractions make to their communities. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in the growth, visibility, and reputation of Merlin’s UK North attractions, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your creativity and strategic thinking will make a real impact.

Qualifications & Experience

  • At least three years’ experience in communications, with a proven track record of engaging with the media to manage organisational responses to public or stakeholder issues.
  • Experience in crisis and issue management, including proactively mitigating risks through careful planning.
  • Confident in engaging with stakeholders internally and externally, building and managing meaningful relationships.
  • Experience in busy, high-profile, public-facing environments, with an understanding that all public statements must be carefully crafted and scrutinised.
  • Strong project management skills, able to handle multiple priorities across a diverse portfolio.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, creating clear, compelling messaging for different audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset, capable of working across multi-site teams and functions.
  • Creative and strategic thinker, with a keen eye for opportunities to amplify brand impact.

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth, visibility, and reputation of Merlin’s UK North attractions in a fast-paced, high-profile environment where your ideas and strategic approach will make a real impact.
