Multi-Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias) Location: THORPE PARK Resort, KT16 8PNHours: Open Season (March-November): 7 days on / 4 days off, followed by 7 days on / 3 days off shift pattern with split shifts. (4 day off = Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon / 3 day off = Tue, Wed, Thurs)

Closed Season (November-March): Monday to Friday – 6am–2pm / 6am–4pm (Option 1). Monday to Thursday – 6am to 4pm (Option 2), Tuesday to Friday – 6am to 4pm (Option 3). No weekend working

This pattern provides regular rest days throughout the rota, supporting a good work-life balance while ensuring consistent engineering support across our attractions.

Starting Salary: £47,043

Department Summary:

Join one of the UK's most unique engineering teams as a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical bias), maintaining some of the country's most complex and technically advanced ride systems.

Working on a wide range of electro-mechanical attractions, you'll carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics, inspections and refurbishment across electrical and mechanical systems. From troubleshooting control systems and electrical panels to rebuilding mechanical brake assemblies, vehicles, pneumatic systems and attraction equipment, no two days are the same.

During the operational season, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of world-class rides through safety-critical inspections, planned maintenance and rapid fault diagnosis. Throughout the winter, you'll support major overhaul programmes, strip-downs, rebuilds, upgrades and asset improvements, providing the opportunity to work on complex engineering projects rarely found in traditional maintenance environments.

This role would suit engineers with experience in manufacturing, industrial maintenance, FMCG, automotive, rail, aerospace, marine, facilities, automation or other heavy engineering environments. Responsibilities:

Responsibilities in this position will change dependent on Thorpe Parks operational season and please be aware that some of these responsibilities would be undertaken at height.

• Utilising PPM task plans to carry out daily safety critical inspections upon rides, vehicles and other attractions.
• Reactive maintenance and repairs, tracked through work order creation and completion.
• Undertaking of preplanned maintenance, including but not limited to:
  • Strip down and rebuild of attraction vehicles, i.e. trains, cars, boats.
  • Strip down and rebuild of mechanical brake assemblies. (Mech)
  • Strip down and resealing of pneumatic cylinders. (Mech)
  • Motor testing and trending. (Elec)
  • Rewiring of panels. (Elec)
  • Electrical inspections on control systems and ride parts.
• Adherence to safety practices and quality standards, such as HSG175.
• Running diagnostics and preventative/predictive maintenance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and logs in support of ongoing compliance metrics.
• Maintain good workshop standards utilising 5S / LEAN methodologies.
• Assist with auditing and ordering critical spare components for rides and attractions.

Qualifications & Experience

• An ONC, NVQ Level 3 or BTEC equivalent gained through an engineering apprenticeship or college route.
• Post-apprenticeship / post-qualification engineering experience.
• Experience within a maintenance engineering environment.
• Experience working within manufacturing, automotive, rail, aerospace, marine, facilities engineering or similar technical environments would be advantageous.
• Inspection experience would be advantageous.
• Full understanding of engineering-related statutory requirements, including COSHH.
• Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems and processes.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Strong problem-solving, diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Experience using technical manuals, risk assessments and engineering documentation.
• Previous experience working within a theme park environment is not essential; engineering experience gained within other electrical, mechanical or technical environments is equally suitable.
• Experience with PLCs, control systems, motors, sensors, pneumatics or mechanical systems would be advantageous.
