We currently have a fantastic opportunity to join our team as a Maintenance Assistant at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast. About the Role We are seeking a full-time Maintenance Assistant to join the SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast team. Working closely with the Head of Facilities and Operations team, you will provide essential maintenance support across the aquarium, helping to ensure our facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment are safe, functional and maintained to a high standard. Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day maintenance of SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast and the implementation of ongoing maintenance programs.
- Carry out general, corrective and preventative maintenance across facilities, buildings, grounds and equipment, including basic carpentry and plumbing tasks.
- Maintain the interior and exterior of the building and building services, including lighting and painting.
- Repair and maintain structures including showers, floors, sinks, walls and carpets.
- Assist with the maintenance of pumps and provide support with displays and general maintenance.
- Activate and deactivate building alarms and report mechanical malfunctions for action.
- Assist external contractors and support the Operations team with operational requirements.
- Inspect maintenance jobs to ensure they have been completed to the required specifications and standard.
- Complete monthly and weekly equipment checks and assist with general maintenance and project tasks as required.
- Support a safe environment by identifying, reporting and helping to resolve health and safety issues.
About You
- You have a broad knowledge of building maintenance and enjoy getting hands-on with a variety of tasks.
- You are energetic, flexible and proactive, with the ability to use your initiative and solve problems effectively.
- You are a strong communicator who builds positive relationships and works well with different teams and external contractors.
- You are reliable and resilient, with the ability to manage competing priorities and remain calm under pressure.
- You take pride in maintaining high standards and are committed to health, safety and providing an exceptional experience for our guests.
