🐠 Animal Welfare Host (Part-Time)— SEA LIFE San Antonio 🌊

Position Summary:Dive into an exciting opportunity at SEA LIFE San Antonio! 💙 As an Animal Welfare Host, you’ll work alongside our awesome Displays Team to care for a diverse collection of freshwater and marine animals — including elasmobranchs (sharks & rays 🦈), fish 🐟, reptiles 🐢, and invertebrates 🦀.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of our aquarium, from feeding and life support maintenance to helping deliver an unforgettable guest experience. 🌟

Qualifications & Experience

🎯 Key Objectives

• Maintain the highest standards of animal husbandry, exhibit presentation, and safety throughout SEA LIFE San Antonio 🧼🐚

• Support the goal of delivering a world-class guest experience through engaging displays and animal interactions 🌍✨

🧰 Key Responsibilities

• 🍽️ Prepare and distribute daily diets for over 5,000 animals

• 🐡 Feed animals, observe behaviors, and record daily data

• 📋 Maintain detailed logs of animal health treatments, feedings, and exhibit maintenance

• 💧 Conduct water quality analysis for exhibit habitats

• 🗣️ Interact with guests during public animal feeds and educational presentations

• 🧽 Assist with other operational and husbandry tasks as assigned

🦺 Health & Safety

• ✅ Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Security protocols

• ⚠️ Conduct and review risk assessments regularly

• 📢 Report new or potential risks promptly to management

• 🧍‍♂️ Promote safe working practices and ensure team adherence

• 🩹 Properly document and report all incidents or accidents and help implement corrective actions

🎓 Qualifications

• 🎓 Minimum: High school diploma or GED

• 🐠 Preferred: B.A., B.S., or 2-year technical degree in a Life Science field

• 🐾 Previous experience as a volunteer or intern at a zoo, aquarium, or animal care facility preferred

• 📅 Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask

• 🧠 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• 🤗 Team player with a positive, proactive attitude and a passion for animal welfare

• 💪 Able to lift up to 50 lbs

• 🚗 Must have or be able to obtain a valid Florida driver’s license

• ❤️ First Aid & CPR certifications preferred

Pay Range

USD $14.00/Hr.
