Job Description

We are looking for a Ground Integration Trials Engineer to join the Integration and Systems Validation team on the Land Ceptor project. The project provides an opportunity with work with a variety of customers and industry partners in the UK and on export contracts.

Salary: Circa £53,000 - £57,000 depending on experience

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

We are looking for a broad-based Trials Engineer who will be able to deliver Ground Integration Trials. The role will include:

  • Taking ownership of test artefacts, ensuring requirement coverage is achieved and configuration control is maintained.
  • Leading a small team to conduct the ground integration test events and review the results generated by the conduct.
  • Reporting on the progress of the testing as well as producing the formal report for the results of the qualification period.
  • Working with stakeholders across the project, from within partner companies and from the customer community, to plan trials to demonstrate integration and gather evidence to qualify Land Ceptor from a Ground Trials perspective.
  • Ensuring the successful facilitation of each event with stakeholders, including external test houses.
  • Liaising with the systems engineering team and design teams to ensure adequate trials data is acquired and to investigate and resolve design issues.
  • Supporting safe and reliable trials, including developing and maintaining risk assessments, management of hardware and software assets and control of hardware and software configuration.
  • Having an understanding of security and its impacts on a trial environment.

This is a great opportunity to become a member of an expanding team delivering key aspects of the latest generation of GBAD system programmes and interfacing with the end Customer and User teams.

What we’re looking for from you:

We are looking for an engineer with the following skills:

  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience communicating at an appropriate level with a wide and varied range of both engineering and management stakeholders;
  • Experience working within a large team, across multiple sites and with multiple departments;
  • Experience working on ground-based integration and proving, particularly previous experience in some or all of the following: Trundle, EMC, Interoperability and Thermal trials;
  • Experience with configuration management and defect reporting.

Experience in these areas would also be beneficial, though formal and on-the-job training will be available:

  • Basic understanding of network / cable assembly drawings;
  • Fault finding and route cause analysis at subsystem integration level;
  • Experience in customer facing roles.
