The job holder defines the Royal Canin strategy to manage food safety through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards; and govern the deployment of the program in all RC factories, with objective to prevent and reduce the occurrence of food safety hazards.

What are we looking for ?

  • Tertiary qualifications in Biology, Food Science, food engineering, Food processing, or related discipline

  • Strong knowledge about Quality and Food Safety Management systems (ISO 9001 / ISO 22000, HACCP, FSSC)

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong understanding of Petfood factories, supply and technology

  • Experience in Quality and Food safety in food industry

  • Experimented auditor (ICA/IRCA accreditation should be appreciated)

What would be your key responsibilities ?

Lead the Royal Canin strategy for HACCP and Food Safety Management Systems (FSMS) including HACCP and FSSC

  • Maintain the global HACCP plan for RC, adding new CCPs, o PRPs or PRPs as required by updating/maintaining the foundations such as hazard analysis and process flow

  • Understand how the Mars framework of HACCP and FSMS can be applied/optimized/combined to ensure compliance with the HARPC framework (FDA FSMA Animal Food Rule)

  • Recommend and drive implementation of a program (including external certification as FSSC) for Food Safety management

  • Provide clarification and advice on validation requirements and gather global validation information, where required, for the CCP/OPRP in the RC network (dry and wet)

  • Develop technical solutions which could become future CCPs/OPRPs, securing further the food safety system of Royal Canin

Govern the standardization program for RC related to FSMS including HACCP

  • Own the following standards/procedures or certification scheme requirements at RC level: FSMS, HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC, Food Defense and FDA FSMA Animal Food Rule

  • Lead the deployment of new or revised standards / procedures, certifications related to food safety and management systems

  • As a standard owner, the job holder is accountable to drive compliance globally for the RC network

  • Monitor compliance and report the relevant KPIs to Royal Canin and Mars teams

  • Define the organizational knowledge around the standards in scope: build training, define training plans and deliver training

  • Influence the Petcare / Corporate team for any modification or creation of new standards / procedures, participating to its redaction where possible

  • Identify the levers to improve it, and where needed, lead projects with compliance roadmaps to have a technical solution meeting standard requirement

  • Define the needs for concessions and coordinate them for the RC network

Leads the QFS Community in Food Safety Management Systems for Manufacturing

  • Ensure capitalization of the knowledge following non-conformities, incidents, audit findings…

  • Provide support and expertise related to Food Safety Manufacturing standards

  • Use the community to ensure efficient deployment of initiative and governance of performance

Be the Q&FS advisor for Food Safety Management Systems, including FSSC and HACCP, with our stakeholders in Q&FS and other functions

  • Strengthen the interface with SQA, Engineering, Regulatory Affairs and the other R&D teams

  • Clarify the roles and responsibilities related to FSMS implementation and FCCS deployment
