As the COE’s elevate their impact and drive a bolder and Purpose-led Talent, Culture and Rewards agenda to enable the enterprise and Segment people strategies, we must deliver business solutions, performance, and impact in highly collaborative, agile, and innovative ways. To enable this ambition, the Strategic Communications and Change Senior Manager will provide support and partnership to the Global Inclusion and Diversity (I&D) Officer and I&D Leadership Team.

The role will also play a critical part in developing and driving the Stakeholder Engagement Strategy across I&D globally and aligning this to the overall Talent, Culture and Rewards Change and Communications Strategy, identifying synergies and intersections for powerful strategic communications and managing activities from an "air traffic control" perspective.

Using in-depth expert change management, communication and engagement experience, the role will develop and implement a strategic I&D Change and Communications program focused on building greater understanding and knowledge of I&D throughout Mars, Inc. with particular emphasis on engaging our Senior Leader and Manager population.

This role will be a member of the Effectiveness and Impact Team withing our Talent, Culture and Rewards (TCR) function and will be working closely with members of this team and the broader P&O community. The role will require close collaboration with colleagues globally and will work especially closely with key P&O Communications and Corporate Affairs Associates.

The incumbent will be expected to develop a multi-year strategy and roadmap working for Global I&D function informed by the broader Segment, P&O and TCR agendas. Through their network, the role will be expected to draw upon P&O resources to bring effective communications and change solutions to life and be a key member of the Communications and Change Community of Practice to share best practise and identify areas of intersection across the COE’s. The role will require an understanding of I&D principles and advanced communication skills.

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years relevant professional communications experience, preferably in HR, compensation, I&D, or benefits

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Administration

  • Demonstrated ability to work interdependently, working in partnership across boundaries with strong influencing skills while building trusting and credible relationships – understanding a diverse Associate population and clear understanding of global and cultural differences when presenting and communicating (strong verbal and written communication skills).

  • Experience operating in a CoE environment and proven ability to work constructively and effectively in a team environment (especially across geographies and time zones).

  • Experience working directly with and influencing senior leaders.

  • Strong appreciation for Mars, Incorporated’s culture, Five Principles, strategies, and philosophies.

  • Exceptional organization skills and ability to juggle multiple initiatives simultaneously in dynamic environment.

  • IT savvy with a keen interest in leveraging IT functionality (platforms and systems) to best engage stakeholders/ audiences.

What will be your key responsibilities?

I&D Stakeholder Engagement and Change and Communications Strategy:

  • Deliver against the Change and Communications strategy which will influence, inform, educate, upskill and engage our internal and external stakeholders.

  • Build and assess where various personas and key groups are against the change management AKDAR model and define a communication and engagement plan to enable progress.

  • Evolve the I&D narrative, content, and format to share our purpose and objectives and, in this context, key deliverables, decisions and best practices, etc.

    • Including support on bi-annual I&D Report and Scorecard for Senior Leaders

    • Launch an aftercare of communications initiatives including Season 2 of Unmuted Podcast

  • Strong collaboration needed with Corporate Affairs and I&D Segment Leads to ensure fit for purpose communications and change management for the enterprise.

  • Collaborate with External Communication and Employer Reputation teams on external reporting of progress.

  • Align and develop timely and effective I&D communications for all relevant stakeholders including GPOLT, MLT, Senior Leader, Manager and Associate populations.

  • Liaise with senior stakeholders to identify and prioritize communication and capability needs.

  • Ensure all interventions have Change Readiness and Impact assessments in place.

  • Continually explore external trends and best practices in I&D communication and reporting to ensure we enable an ongoing positive reputation versus external benchmarks.

Partnership to I&D Leadership Team:

  • Thought partner to Global I&D Officer on strategic senior stakeholder engagement.

  • Agency (United Minds) partner and primary point of contact.

  • Communications and change support to leadership team.

Effectiveness and Impact Community of Practice:

  • Co-lead and participate in the Strategic Communications COP across Talent, Culture and Rewards.

  • Collaborate on providing creative solutions/ recommendations on best practices to ensure effective and engaging Associate communications and training programs – leveraging technology and external vendors/ consultants as needed.

  • Identify opportunities to use evolving technology to better communicate to and educate target audiences.

  • Continually explore external trends and best practices to ensure current solutions are best in class versus appropriate benchmarks.

  • Create the framework through which function-specific/ regional/ local programs and campaigns can be delivered.

Effectiveness and Impact:

  • Perform role in line with the Effectiveness and Impact Team purpose and value proposition, including effective contracting with Stakeholders

  • Assess effectiveness and impact of communications through regular feedback channels to drive communication and program improvements
