The is an exciting opportunity to join the Regional Quality & Food Safety team in a newly created role as Senior Scientist Food Safety QTA. The Regional Senior Scientist Food leads activities that enable the continuous improvement of the Food Safety Management Program across the 10 factories in the Mars Wrigley Europe region. The job holder will leverage their specialist technical knowledge to input into the regional MQM process (including Material Risk Assessments and raw material specifications) for both new and existing raw materials, and may also support with food safety recommendations during incident management. Preferrred location would be Slough (UK), Poznan (Poland) or Veghel (Netherlands).
What are we looking for?
Minimum BS degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Engineering, Chemistry, or related technical field
Relevant years’ experience in a Quality & Food Safety role in the food industry or related industry
Strong functional knowledge of Food Chemical and Physical Hazard management in relation to raw materials and food factory production environments
Experience of Food Safety standards eg. FSSC2200, GMP/GHP, and HACCP
Toxicological knowledge of raw materials & familiarity with ingredient sourcing processes
Strong communicator and relationship builder with colleagues in other functions and colleagues working remotely
Proven and effective project management & organizing experience
Visible passion, behaviour, and leadership around Mars’s Quality principle
What will be your key responsibilities?
Develop and utilize specialist technical expertise across raw material categories to provide input into the MQM process, including Material Risk Assessments (MRAs) and raw material specifications for Chocolate and Ice cream
Responsible for the Food Safety & Food Fraud Hazard Analysis evaluation within Raw Materials Risk Assessments
Responsible for the verification of the overall quality of the Material Risk Assessment, including verification of Supplier and Mars control measures
Responsible for the Food Safety input into Raw Material Specifications
Provide Food Safety expert support to realize the Raw Material Inbound Verification Test program
Where necessary, provide food safety recommendations during incident/crisis management
Support Food Safety expertise capability building in the region though Food Safety trainings.
Participate as regional Q&FS expert into regional/local projects to provide Q&FS expertise in the area of food chemistry
Work closely with the Global Mars Wrigley and Corporate Q&FS teams, to represent the region during the development of segment and corporate Food Safety standards, to ensure that developed standards are relevant and fit-for-purpose for our region
