What are we looking for?

  • A highly skilled & experienced engineer on the Snacking Data Platform, with proven ability to lead technical change

  • Highly data-driven and enthusiastic about good data modelling. Drives best development practices across products and technical team members.

  • Comfortably manages context switching - e.g. between multiple projects / between head-down coding & mentoring/brainstorming

  • Introduces and encourages innovation - suggests ideas, looks to introduce new technologies/practices to deliver better solutions with inspirational enthusiasm for tech & innovation

  • Ability and strong desire to research and learn new technologies and languages

  • Confidence to technically challenge implemented solutions and processes

  • Excellent skills in our tech stack and/or highly valuable experience in data engineering

  • Takes on a mindset thinking in terms of overall One Demand Data & Analytics vision, a role model for ownership and accountability

  • Builds strong relationships across teams, promoting team dynamic .Able to communicate effectively with all levels of the business to help present new ideas and provide recommendations for new technologies

  • Highly knowledgeable in the contemporary data engineering and analytics landscape, the current tools, the latest approaches

  • Experienced in practices of DevOps and CICD within a data platform

  • Capacity and enthusiasm for mentoring and coaching data engineers of varying experience

Technical skills

  • Strong knowledge and experience in processing big data and coding expertise using Spark

  • Experience working in a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, GCP)

  • Experience in building data pipeline/ETL/ELT solutions

  • Nice to have - Neo4J / Cypher, Azure cloud technologies (e.g. Blob Storage, ADLS, Azure DevOps, Azure Logic Apps, Azure FUnctions), Delta Lake storage layer, Data visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau, THoughtspot, D3.js)

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Engineer and orchestrate the most complex and challenging data engineering solutions on our cloud based data platform, using an Azure data stack e.g. Databricks, Spark, Python, PySpark, ADLS, Delta Lake, Parquet

  • Accountable for ensuring data is well modelled in a Scalable, Repeatable and Sustainable manner

  • Take full technical ownership and responsibility for challenging focus areas and projects within a complex platform

  • Technically mentor and guide other members of the data engineering team

  • Actively host / lead group technical discussions. E.g. leading workshops

  • Promote DevOps & CI/CD methodologies to collaborate on a growing platform

  • Partner with ODDA Product Leads to drive the provision of business value through technical excellence

  • Partner with delivery/scrum masters to efficiently deliver technical solutions in an agile and timely manner

  • Exercise excellent communication to collaborate with various members of the ODDA solutions team

  • Work closely with data scientists and business stakeholders to understand their requirements

  • Enthusiastically evolve your technical skillset, engage in training and learn new technologies and techniques
