Job Description:

The Controls Technician’s role is to provide leadership in PM capability, WO completion, breakdown elimination, and technical support for delivering the team’s operational targets such as safety, quality and efficiency results. The Controls TR will have a focus on WOs and issues related to controls, instrumentation, or electrical systems; but will be expected to support mechanical WOs and issues as needed. This role must proactively identify and action risks to safety, food safety, quality and production losses. Must also lead and coach root cause problem solving with the Make and Pack Technicians on team, effectively communicate priorities, and escalate issues within their area and across shifts. The controls TR will also take technical direction from the controls leader to assist them in execution of controls specific support work.

Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance
  • Advanced controls and electrical skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Ability to convey communications clearly and concisely
  • Understanding of major functions within the plant and the ability to work directly with all levels and functions
  • Able to deal with ambiguity effectively
  • Successful completion of a drug and background screen
  • Ability to work day shift under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, heights, and/or confined spaces
  • Full understanding of 480VAC
  • Experience with Allen Bradley manufacturing equipment
  • Have full mobility with the ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous maintenance/TR experience
  • Technical degree in industrial electrical/controls or related degree
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a TPM/technical, manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience working in quality and safety.
  • Functional knowledge and understanding of HACCP concepts

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Rotate on shift with assigned operating team
  • Lead and support the culture development of Mars, 5 Principles and Engagement
  • Coach Mars safety standards, tools and techniques
  • Identify, evaluate and eliminate safety risks using behavior based safety program and near miss reporting
  • Perform mechanical and electrical preventative maintenance on various manufacturing equipment, PLCs, control networks, instrumentation, drives/servos, and electrical system
  • Complete work orders as assigned and proactively look at work orders to complete as time permits
  • Document preventative maintenance and work orders using SAP
  • Troubleshoot and repair routine and advanced electrical issues, and mechanical issues as needed to support other TRs
  • Conduct equipment breakdown analysis
  • Participate and sometimes lead Focused Improvement Teams to eliminate losses within functional area
  • Develop/train Make and Pack Technicians to: grow functional/technical skills, learn troubleshooting and repair skills to operate equipment more efficiently, understand Autonomous Maintenance activities
  • Train other TRs on shift in areas of controls to grow their capability
  • Drive delivery at or above target of following metrics: TRS, production reliability, stops reduction, mean time between failure, defects found and fixed, work order/PM completion rate
  • Uses IWS tools to achieve zero losses, ensure follow up to outages and root cause identification
  • Provide technical support to eliminate line top losses and team’s equipment ownership improvements
  • 90% of time on production floor working with technicians to deliver results, assisting in equipment setup and changeover
  • Achieve and maintain a high level of technical competency.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities and complexity Member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) Flow to work as needed to meet the business need Other job duties as assigned by site leadership
