Establish and develop an advanced mass spectrometry capability, based on an FT-ICR-MS platform, at the WALTHAM® Petcare Science Institute.
Deploy WALTHAM®'s advanced mass spectrometry capability to enhance the understanding of pet food composition in order to generate insights that directly support product innovation, research and development for global Petcare.
What are we looking for?
This role sits within the product performance research area at WALTHAM® reporting to James Marshall. The role holder will take the lead in developing and deploying our in-house advanced mass spectrometry capability. The role holder will collaborate closely with the research team, including the WALTHAM® laboratory, as well as external research partners to develop the capability and continue to advance the field. The WALTHAM® team supports global innovation and R&D across the whole of Mars Petcare. What will be your key responsibilities?
Responsible for development, optimization and validation of relevant analytical methods for robust, comprehensive characterization of complex samples and the identification of compounds of interest.
Initiate, gain approval for, resource, manage and report internal research projects aligned with WALTHAM®’s product performance research plan
Supervise 0 - 3 Scientists and other support staff working in partnership with research and laboratory teams.
Communicate research outputs to internal stakeholders through scientific reports and presentations.
Maintain current awareness of relevant internal and external developments in the fields of advanced analytical chemistry and complex mixture characterization. Apply relevant developments to support WALTHAM® research in future directions.
