Shift: Days
Location: Mars Petcare - Aurora, NE (NEA)
Purpose of Role
The Reliability Specialist's role is to take an in-depth look into the equipment in the factory, determine its health/condition, and then make proactive choices on equipment repairs or PMs. This role must proactively identify and action risks to safety, food safety, quality and production losses. The Reliability Specialist must be a leader and a teacher in predictive technologies like laser alignment, balancing, proper lubrication, and ultrasonic detection for all technical associates. The specialist will also be responsible for developing and executing a technical training program for reliability technicians and must be able to operate almost completely autonomously to complete required predictive maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Maintain certifications in lubrication technologies, vibration analysis, thermography, and ultrasonic detection.
- Develop and maintain a vibration analysis program to predict failures before they happen.
- Complete planning and scheduling in SAP for all predictive work orders.
- Owner of the site lubrication program on the PM Pillar as a part of MSE.
- Be held accountable for a reduction in UPDT and unplanned breakdowns year over year.
- Lead and support the culture development of Mars, 5 Principles, and Engagement.
- Coach Mars safety standards, tools, and techniques.
- Identify, evaluate, and eliminate safety risks using a behavior-based safety program and near-miss reporting.
- Document preventative maintenance and work orders using SAP Plant Maintenance.
- Conduct, lead, and train on equipment breakdown analysis.
- Develop/train technicians to grow functional/technical skills, learn troubleshooting and repair skills, and understand Autonomous Maintenance activities.
- Perform advanced technical tasks such as fabrication, welding, machinist skills, pipe fitting, and rigging.
- Drive delivery at or above target for PM completion and breakdown reduction.
- Provide technical support to eliminate line top losses and improve team equipment ownership.
Key Skills and Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance/reliability.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, heights, and/or confined spaces.
- Full mobility with the ability to climb ladders and stairs and lift 50 lbs.
- Successful completion of a drug and background screen.
- Mastery in predictive technologies and preventative maintenance.
- Fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings/schematics.
- Advanced mechanical skills, metalworking, plumbing, pneumatics, and steam fitting.
- Basic computer skills in AutoCAD, Proficy, Excel, Word, Outlook, SAP, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in maintenance/reliability at Mars.
- Technical degree in industrial maintenance or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a TPM/technical, manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience working in quality and safety.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of HACCP concepts.
Certifications such as:
- International Council for Machinery Lubrication (ICML) - Certified Level 1
- Vibration Institute – Vibration Analyst Category 1
- UE Systems Inc – Airborne Ultrasound Level 1
