Job Description:

The primary role of the Receiving Operator safely and efficiently tests, analyzes, and processes raw ingredients. This process supports the manufacturing of high-quality pet food that meets or exceeds all specifications set by Mars Pet Care US in the amount and schedule required by business needs.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma/ GED

  • Basic knowledge of personal computers

  • Demonstrated competency in computer and pc software including MS Office and email

  • Must be willing and able to work and accept varying shifts and schedules

  • Ability to understand and effectively communicate in the English language

  • Good basic math, reading and writing skills

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to work in a self-directed manner with minimal supervision and a positive attitude

  • High Level of mechanical aptitude and knowledge, with good skills in troubleshooting and problem solving

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Forklift experience

  • Push Pull Lift experience a plus

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision

  • Good problem solving and/or troubleshooting skills

  • Working knowledge of Safety, Quality and Material Management Systems and procedures

  • Ability to read and understand the daily production run schedule, and execute to that plan

  • Ability to communicate to managers and team members any production, quality/food safety or other business critical information vital to operations and customer service

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of working at elevated heights

  • Must not be unusually sensitive to chemicals (contact lenses not recommended)

  • Vision correctable to 20/20

  • Must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time

  • Standing on a concrete floor

  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (hair net, bump cap, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform)

  • Bending, stooping, twist, turn, standing for extended time periods, reaching, climbing stairs, and lifting to 55 lbs.

  • Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust dirt and chemicals

  • Able to work with minimal supervision

  • Forklift assignments require OSHA certification and getting on and off frequently

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Sampling of all incoming raw materials

  • Collect routine ingredient samples

  • Visually inspect incoming commodities and take appropriate action on issues such as infestation, pests, mold, or any other quality issue.

  • Quality testing (including analytical testing) of all incoming raw materials

  • Foss Analyzer and lab equipment operation

  • Know and understand all CCP’s, and report any findings of deficiencies to Site Quality Manager

  • Responsible for communicating and elevating any quality and food safety concerns to site management.

  • Accurately perform Mycotoxin, Vomitoxin, and FFA tests, and communicate results to Quality Manager

  • Receiving and Quality systems database interfacing

  • Informing QS of all out of specification raw materials

  • Ensure adherence to all site food safety and security practices (CCP’s, seals, load tags, locked caps, etc.)

  • Actively address food safety and quality concerns.

  • Unloading of all incoming raw materials (dries, liquids, meats, minors)

  • Load used pallets on trailers as needed.

  • Major bin strategy coordination

  • Railcar unloading strategy/Operate Track mobile

  • Clean receiving magnets

  • Dump all receiving totes

  • IS regrind tote dumping

  • Hard stock grinding – strategize with batching operator

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment to promote associate safety and product integrity/Wet and dry receiving area sanitation

  • Other duties as assigned

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Eligibility for these additional elements depend on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule, store associate). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.
