We are searching for an experienced data leader who is passionate about driving our data strategy forward within the Mars ecosystem.

Accurate, granular, and well visualized packaging sustainability data is critical to our businesses for a range of purposes, including internal strategy development, tracking of progress against KPIs and external reporting to NGOs, customers and regulators. The Sustainability Data Manager will work cross-functionally and across all regions to aggregate, analyze and visualize packaging sustainability data, providing timely reporting and deriving key strategic insights and opportunities for the business, as well as ensuring integration of reporting into existing business processes. They will act as the key point of contact on sustainability data and guardian of the ‘single source of truth’ for a range of stakeholders including corporate sustainability, global segment sustainability, regional program leads and functional leads. The primary focus of this role is on packaging sustainability data with the potential to broaden the scope over time to include management of procurement, raw materials and operations sustainability data.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Managing MW packaging sustainability data collection, reporting, forecasting and analysis, consolidating data across teams and regions to provide insights and track progress against our goals. This role will also help identify how to incorporate projects or work stream initiatives against the packaging data and will require the capability to build models to show rate of change impact from each major workstream.

  • Developing future systems for improved packaging data reporting in partnership with Pet and Food segment leads, corporate sustainability team and Mars Digital Technologies to drive transformational change through automated reporting.

  • Deliver internal and external MW packaging sustainability reporting, ensuring timely and effective communication to key stakeholders internally: including global segment sustainability, corporate sustainability, regional program leads and functional leads, and externally a key contact for packaging details for customer reports and NGO’s (EMF, CGF, eyc.)

  • Develop compelling and insightful visualization, bringing the data to life through development of charts, visuals and dashboards to support for pre-reads and presentations in key forums.

  • Translate the data management topics into a clear easy to understand recommendation for the decision makers.

CONTEXT & SCOPE

Reports to the Global MW Packaging Sustainability Director and is part of the MW Global Packaging Sustainability team, working closely with key segment functions and regions, as well as the segment sustainability, global governance teams and corporate team.

What are we looking for?

Min 3-5 years professional experience

Considerable experience in data systems and data project management to be able to be the subject matter expert in that area.

Strong data analytical skills, ability to manage large amounts of data, knowledge of data systems that can help improve our data collection and reporting systems.

Hands-on data management and data analysis experience, including database building, data mining, and multivariate analysis; predictive modelling techniques is a plus.

Quantitative reasoning skills, including the ability to work with numbers, summarize data and to present, explain and discuss the results within all levels of the organization.

Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues, manage scope and contain risks in a matrix organization.

Effective collaboration across functions and geographies to help solve complex challenges, open minded with the ability to integrate others thinking to deliver the best solution.

Ability to transform complex analytics into a simple, visual story to influence decision makers and build compelling presentations, ability to translate business problems into clear analytics use cases and briefs in terms of data requirements.

Senior Stakeholders management across geographies and functions

Strong preference for knowledge of packaging materials

Curiosity, business acumen, data acquisition, and maintenance skills as well as change management skills, eager to learn about sustainability data and metrics.
