The PNE Packaging Program Lead will be in close relationship with global, regional & local teams, with cross departments interactions. This will be done by:

  • Being Accountable for the EU packaging program, taking an enterprise-wide view of the topic and linking closely with the global program lead and Regional Sustainability Sponsor.
  • Forming and lead the regional cross-functional working group, acting as the primary point of contact for the accountable regional sustainability sponsor and, escalating where relevant to remove blockers and ensure activities are delivered according to plan.
  • Acting as a key partner that regional project teams and functions can consult for guidance and clarity on the program, broader Mars sustainability strategy and how their functions and projects can advance the sustainability agenda.
  • Leading the glidepath development process in partnership with the cross-functional sustainability working group, creating critical phased 5-year plans that are funded and built into the businesses Value Creation Plans.
  • Partnering with PNE Sustainability Demand, CA, Legal and S&RA to ensure the roadmap and projects are leveraged on Corporate Communications, Customers and Brands storytelling.
  • Partnering with PNE TLT to ensure the roadmap and projects are integrated in the Supply, Commercial and R&D strategies and deployment plans
  • Bring in external opportunities and knowledge to strengthen the program, keeping up to speed with key developments as well as representing Mars in external regional forums, working groups and conferences as relevant.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor degree or higher preferred in Sustainability, Business Management, project or innovation management, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience working in FMCG,
  • Working knowledge of sustainability transformation change management in FMCG
  • Experience working on packaging sustainability strategies to create a circular economy
  • Pre-existing network within the sustainability community (service providers, government agencies, trade associations, standard setters)
  • Leading Innovation Management
  • Work remote/virtual environment
  • Fluent in English

What will be your key responsibilities?

1) PACKAGING SUSTAINABILITY LEADERSHIP

  • Lead the European sustainability program for future development including Packaging Long-term strategy and Climate Action Plan interdependencies.
  • Evolve the program based on latest research and insights.
  • Oversee internal commitments, external benchmarks, and best practices, that are fit for use within Pet Nutrition Europe.
  • Drive broad adoption, understanding and advocacy of the Packaging strategy across the organization.

2) PACKAGING PROGRAM GOVERNANCE

  • Monitors, escalates and explores scenarios to ensure Packaging program is deployed regionally on time in full.
  • Consolidates and prepares LT updates including MBR, S&OP and Global forums when required.
  • Reviews and aligns quarterly program reporting to global and regional LT including data trends, investment evolution and key messages to the organization.

3) OPERATION OWNERSHIP

  • Represent Mars in external regional forums, working groups and conferences as relevant.
  • Review management sustainability dashboard targets and create action plans.
  • Deliver competitive environment intelligence on Packaging topics.
  • Assess trainings and tools required cross functionally to elevate team’s capabilities.
  • Ensure our Innovation and Renovation Projects have Packaging sustainability at their heart. (Pack CSF)
