Packaging Developer/Engineer - 12 month fixed term contract

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced packaging developer/engineer to join our Slough hub site as a Packaging Development Engineer for a fixed term contract of 12 months. The purpose of this role is to develop and deploy packaging initiatives that support core brand growth, efficiency and innovation for Mars Wrigley.

At Mars, we recognise that hybrid working unlocks productivity and performance for our Associates and our business. For this role, we expect that the successful candidate will need to travel into our Slough hub site once or twice a week.

What are we looking for?

  • A degree in science or equivalent technical area e.g. Packaging, Engineering or Design.

  • Experience of working on packaging projects would be beneficial.

  • Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams and with external suppliers.

Ideally, you will have some experience of packaging projects which you’re looking to develop further in a supportive team. If you hold any of the above skills and experience, we would love to hear from you.

What will your key responsibilities be?

  • Adapt pack process conditions as required to ensure that all packs run efficiently and meet required semi-finished and finished product specifications, quality standards and efficiency targets.

  • Utilise best practice packaging experience to deploy validated packaging formats across the network with minimal disruption to operations and minimal expense costs to the business.

  • Initiate, coordinate and execute line trials at appropriate supply locations to confirm that quality attributes and performance metrics are achieved.

  • Coordinate the creation of high quality prototypes to gauge consumer desirability, influence teams and support customer collaboration.

What can you expect from Mars?

  • Work with over 130,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by The Five Principles.

  • Join a purpose driven company where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.

  • Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.

  • An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.
