This job plays a crucial role in developing and driving the sensory science agenda in Mars Food and providing consumer and sensory leadership to the R&D project portfolio.

As a core member of the R&D Team and reporting to the Global CMI (Consumer & Market Insight) Innovation & CTI (Consumer &Technical Insight) Senior Manager, this position operates in the following context:

  • Close collaboration with the R&D community (Renovation, Innovation, Science & Technology, Quality & Food Safety, Science & Regulatory Affairs), Consumer & Market Insights (Global & Regional), Commercial and Marketing teams where relevant.

  • Partnering both internally and externally (with sensory and consumer research agencies) to deliver key product insights through sensory evaluations.

  • Individual contributor with the need to be able to influence without positional authority.

What are we looking for?

  • Proficiency in sensory and consumer science – proven expertise in managing sensory panel and sensory research, designing and executing consumer research with different levels of complexity

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into practical business insights.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey scientific concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Proven track record of building collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively, set Priorities when relevant, Drive for results, Decision quality, Problem Solving

  • Fluent in written and spoken English

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Responsible for projects spanning across value leadership activities, recipe improvement, product benchmarking and innovation.

  • Design, conduct and analyse sensory and consumer research on the consumer-product interface to evaluate product attributes and consumer preferences.

  • Develop and implement sensory and consumer methodologies and protocols to ensure reliable and reproducible results.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, marketing, commercial to translate sensory/consumer findings into product improvements.

  • Lead the interpretation of sensory and consumer data, providing clear and actionable recommendations.

  • Provide consumer research methodology leadership to Product Design and Development teams, in terms of experimental design, statistical modeling/tools and data analysis.

  • Exploit existing sensory & consumer-related product knowledge, identifying appropriate external partners and existing or new tools to address knowledge gaps and develop critical product insights on behalf of R&D associates. Use the data and knowledge gained to provide creative technical guidance and performance feedback based on proven consumer protocols.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new methodologies, and advancements in sensory and consumer science.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of results.
