Nutrition Science Expert
Waltham Petcare Science Institute
Salary Range - £60,000 - £70,000 + 20% annual bonus + £7,500 car allowance per annum.
As subject matter expert in Pet Nutrition, you will provide strong technical leadership and actionable guidance on pet nutrition, building and leveraging a wide array of internal and external capabilities and networks. As Nutrition Technical Expert you will work closely with many functions and in collaboration with both global and regional R&D teams to ensure Mars policies, standards and positions on pet nutrition embody pet needs first and represent industry best practice, and are in service of making a better world for pets.
What are we looking for?
PhD or equivalent in nutrition or related discipline
Proven experience in a research environment, and an established network in the science /research nutrition community
R&D experience within the FMCG or healthcare industry
High drive for result and an ability to work with minimum input
Proven ability to access, develop and transfer technical knowledge and skills, and to lead and manage projects/programs
What will be your key responsibilities?
The job holder is responsible for maintaining and updating global pet nutrition standards, ensuring they reflect new and emerging knowledge in pet nutrition. It is anticipated they will conduct between 2-4 in depth technical reviews to determine practical and actionable guidance on business relevant nutrition topics.
The job holder will also undertake nutrition food safety risk assessment, as part of the Mars Product Related Incident Management Process (PRIMP).
As Subject Matter Expert for pet nutritional sciences the job holder will provide technical leadership and guidance to the global petcare business on emerging and business relevant nutrition and food safety issues.
The job holder will oversee and manage between 1 and 3 applied nutrition studies/year, relating to ingredient food safety, and regulatory approval.
The job holder will also inform and advise the design of nutrition intervention studies being undertaken by the healthcare research team.
