As a member of the MGS Learning Learner Experience and Digital Innovation Team, works collaboratively with peers across the Mars U MGS Learning and the Strategic Capability Team (SCT) to enable a strong culture of learning at Mars. Through the design of innovative and engaging learning experiences that span the 70, 20 and 10, enables learning in the flow of work by utilizing content, resources and modalities that are scalable, actionable, and easily consumed. In addition, ensures clarity on what learning is compulsory for whom and seamlessly builds it into every stage of the Associate lifecycle.

Learner Experience Manager – Social Learning manages a team of curation coaches to drive a culture of “Always on Learning” through development and deployment of a social learning strategy that leverages the knowledge and experience of Mars Associates.

This is a hybrid role that must be based out of one of the listed locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Strategic Capability Team to understand capability needs, target audience and learning objectives.

  • Creates innovative learner experiences that go beyond the 10% to meet capability building needs defined by SCT, leverages technology innovation that enables learning through both traditional and non-traditional channels, and drives a culture of “Always on Learning”.

  • Utilizes Design Thinking to put the learner right at the ‘centre of consideration’, taking into account how a learner goes about their working life, what is meaningful to them and puts the focus onto the behaviour we are trying to change and the impact that this has on the learner.

  • Leverages voice of the learner and data and insights to develop recommendations that ensure every touchpoint with our learners is a chance to make their experience simple, actionable and available when and how they need it.

  • Manages the governance of compulsory learning for all Mars Associates and determine how to best leverage technology to automate delivery that creates the highest quality learner experience while achieving operational excellence. Ultimately ensuring that each touchpoint across the learner journey is engaging, efficient, and effective resulting in increased learner satisfaction.

  • Continually develops and makes improvements to programs leveraging User Centricity & Agile methodologies.

  • Stays up to date with learning & development trends and tools, adult learning styles and preferences, as well as blended and social learning techniques.

  • Executes multiple projects within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Takes accountability for engagement and development of direct report(s).

  • Partners closely with the SCT Relationship Managers to understand future demand and critical programming.

  • Engages with the Digital Innovation Manager to understand the external tech landscape and latest technology trends that might enhance our learner experiences; influences future investments in technology.

  • Engages with the Regional Comms and Engagement Managers to obtain insights into our learner preferences and better understand if our current experiences are having the intended impact with our learners, and to leverage learner communities for opportunities to “test and learn” new learning experience solutions.

  • Gathers insights from the Metrics, Data, Analytics and Reporting team around current portfolio performance and future trends.

  • Partners closely with the Solution Procurement Team to ensure 10% learning needs are clear in order to procure off the shelf solutions or development services that will align with the overall learning experience.

  • Leverages Curation Coaches to ensure we utilize current content and curation in the design of overall learning experiences.

  • Partners with Mars U Activity Managers to enable effective and efficient management of Mars U learning projects.

  • Partners with SCT to rationalize and streamline current portfolio to clarify compulsory learning for our associates.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor's degree (or the equivalent of education) with extensive experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

  • Ability to travel as required for appropriate key meetings and forums (around 10% of the time).

  • Experience in a business partnership or consulting

  • Experience with disruptive and innovative thinking in service of User Experience

  • Experience in various aspects of learning and development lifecycle

  • Knowledge/Experience leveraging Design Thinking/UX practices

  • Knowledge/ Experience leveraging Agile process

  • Experience leading Global change management initiatives

  • Perspective on the needs of our Mars learner population gained through direct experience engaging with Mars Associates.

  • Demonstrated ability to Influence without authority across a diverse set of stakeholders

  • Demonstrated Experience driving culture change
