This role is a great opportunity for junior specialists to step into big projects in R&D or to change their career path to Packaging Development.

The purpose of the job is to support new packaging design and development projects for Pet Nutrition Europe's Dry and Care & Treats Segments, from concept through to implementation in our factory network. In addition, they will support projects aimed at improving the design and performance of our existing packaging portfolio, and to ensure that opportunities to optimize costs are identified and realized.

What are we looking for?

  • A BS or advanced degree or equivalent technical qualification in Packaging, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field could be a benefit

  • Ideally, some experience working on packaging projects will also consider experience from a packaging-related technical field

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and with external suppliers

  • Passionate about learning & personal development

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • To support the technical packaging design and development for a variety of projects (Innovation, Renovation, Supply Cost Savings).

  • Support the Optimisation of existing packs and packaging materials to improve cost, quality and how they perform on our machine.

  • Support the development of new packaging concepts, materials and, testing methods.

  • Support line trials in Mars Petcare factories/suppliers/co-packers including the relevant documentation and presentation of results

  • Responsible for producing packaging samples in the Packaging Lab or through suppliers.

  • Support analysis of new packaging materials and their characteristics to demonstrate whether they are fit for purpose.

  • Maintenance of packaging systems e.g. Veritas

  • Support Creation and custodianship of all relevant packaging specifications.

  • To support the delivery of projects on time and cost.
