Job Description

Job Description:

International Benefits Specialist

Slough, 2-3 days per week in office

£45 - £55K + benefits

This role manages and administers the bespoke retirement, death and disability benefits for globally mobile Mars associates to ensure they understand what benefits they will receive; to facilitate the calculation and payment of those benefits from the various countries in which they were earned to (usually) a different country in which the associates might choose to retire. This role has a high degree of complexity due to the number of variations available.

What are we looking for?

  • Preferably educated to Degree level, ideally in a financial or business-related discipline; a pension professional qualification post degree would be beneficial.
  • A background in benefits and a working knowledge of pensions and related benefits, preferably defined benefit and cash balance.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills, including inductive and deductive reasoning, in addition to the ability to research and solve problems.
  • Ability to grasp complex financial/actuarial concepts and methodologies

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • Maintaining the individual benefits commitments (with a key focus on both defined benefit and cash balance pensions) for over 200 of Mars Inc’s most senior associates who each have their own unique arrangements reflecting their own career path across multiple countries.
  • Co-ordination and/or production of the calculation of benefits and technical support for the delivery of international benefits.
  • Managing ad-hoc projects as required, driven by the need to respond to administrative, legislative changes and governance requirements.
  • Both maintaining and enhancing the profile of the International Benefits Team as a centre of excellence and expertise.
  • Managing relationships with actuarial, legal, financial and other advisors as well as in-house teams such as other benefit teams, rewards, payroll, global mobility and tax, globally across Mars.
  • Identifying areas where our processes can be improved and made more efficient, often with use of technology.
  • Communicating with members via written materials (emails, benefit statements, estimates, briefing presentations, leaver communications and benefits payments) plus providing support and information via Teams.

What can you expect from Mars?

  • The opportunity to take charge of your own career and development right across the Mars business.
  • An industry competitive salary and benefits package.
  • A flexible schedule that’s designed to give you the work/life balance you need to be at your best.
