The job holder will review all relevant Mars Quality Standards (Dry / Care & Treats) and liaise with Global, Regional and Site Quality & Food Safety (Q&FS) functions to understand those that are relevant to the THO IC (Thomas’ Innovation Centre), in order to co-create (with the Innovation Centre Manager) and implement a Q&FS strategy that will support the IC to becoming a World Class Facility.

The job holder will highlight where the gaps are and create actions to close the gaps, delegating and supporting where necessary and creating tracking systems to ensure adherence to the action plan timelines. All timings must take into account internal and external audits which the job holder will be responsible for.

The job holder will also be responsible for leading the IC HACCP team, to ensure full compliance with the Mars HACCP requirements, and will also support an R&D External Facility in regard to Q&FS standards and HACCP implementation.

What are we looking for?

  • A candidate with a relevant degree in Food Technology or Food Safety

  • HACCP Level 3 certification is a minimum and required

  • Several years (min 3 or more) of relevant experience in a similar role within an FMCG / factory environment

  • Experienced in leading audits and training others in quality-related topics

  • Strong communication skills, leading conversations between teams

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Create the Innovation Centre Q&FS strategy to align with Mars standards as well as the Dry, Care & Treats OGSM

  • To take responsibility for ensuring THO Innovation Centre meets all relevant Mars Quality standards where applicable, and track compliance

  • To ensure all trials undertaken In THO Innovation Centre are safe and meet the requirements relating to trial paperwork, risk assessments, concessions etc.

  • To lead all Innovation Centre's audits (Internal / External)

  • To manage and report all deviations to standards via specific Mars tools (CAPAs and PRIMPs)

  • To lead the IC HACCP team and be an active member of THO Site HACCP team

  • Support the IC and Site Food Defence team

  • To ensure all new standards are reviewed and implemented (if applicable) in a timely manner by regularly connecting with Site, Global and Regional Q&FS teams

  • To support the R&D External Facility where possible (Design and implementation of Policies/procedures/HACCP)

  • To review and support both Regional and Global teams with Q&FS systems that affect the IC, such as Material Risk Assessments, CAPAs, PRIMPS, Concessions etc.

  • To be the custodian of all Q&FS activities in THO IC

  • Regularly review all Dry/C&T Q&FS standards and maintain the relevant quality trackers in order to create and implement the actions required to close gaps

  • Support the training of the THO IC user groups to deploy new Q&FS systems and Ways of Working

  • Build and support the HACCP Program

  • Creation and maintenance of the THO IC Q&FS Program

  • Q&FS System Design & Implementation

  • Liaise between Global, Regional and Site Q&FS functions as well as utilising experts across the Mars community to help to create and support a Q&FS strategy of a World Class Innovation Centre.

  • Support the GIC External Facility with Q&FS activities
