We are looking for an individual to deliver a pro-active, professional SES (Safety, Environment, and Security) function that drives the continuous improvement of safety and environment performances at the Castle Cary site.
The jobholder will drive and continually improve a range of SES activities that ensures compliance to safety regulations and standards, and support environment initiatives where required.
The candidate must be based within commuting distance of our castlecary site. Travel to office will be required 3-4 days per week, with flexibility to work from home on 1 or 2 days per week.
What are we looking for?
Education & Professional Qualification
- NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent (required)
- Auditor qualification (preferred)
Knowledge/Experience
- Understanding of IT systems (required)
- Understanding of ISO 45001 management system (preferred)
- Understanding of FMGC processes and ways of working (preferred)
- Understanding of environmental permits and 14001 management system (preferred)
What will be your key responsibilities?
- Provides expert knowledge of safety and asset management within a factory of 70+ associates producing dry pet food.
- Successfully implements MARS SES Standards and continuous improvement plans to reduce accidents and potential serious incidents, improve proactive plant safety standards, culture and infrastructure, and maintain compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensures that our equipment, workspaces and work tasks are covered by suitable and sufficient risk assessment and are designed to reduce the risk of harm to Associates, contractors and visitors, so far as is reasonably practicable.
- Provides a professional safety expertise to risk assessment processes, either as facilitator or member of a team.
- Evaluates and maintains the effectiveness of safety management systems (ISO 45001, MSE Safety Pillar), site procedures, processes, programs and behaviours (through audit and other means), and delivers continuous improvement actions to address any gaps.
- Develops, facilitates or delivers safety training to produce acceptable safety competencies for our key hazard and impact groups.
- Influences individual and team safe behaviours at all levels in the workplace, either by 1:1 coaching, by group conversation or training, or more formally by presentation at scheduled safety review or communication meetings.
- Manages continual improvement projects to drive compliance with MARS Standards, legal obligations and best practices.
- Ensures incidents are investigated to root cause and corrective actions are tracked to completion. Leads Root Cause Analysis sessions following incidents where required.
- Supports SES Team members to ensure effective team operations.
