Job Description

The Warehouse Associate at Maersk Contract Logistics will play a key role in ensuring the efficient handling of goods and inventory within the warehouse. The role involves receiving, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching goods while maintaining high standards of accuracy, safety, and efficiency. The Warehouse Associate will also contribute to Maersk’s commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction by supporting warehouse processes and initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receiving and Storing:

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality
  • Unload goods, ensure proper storage according to procedures, and enter items into the warehouse management system (WMS)
  • Label and store items in appropriate warehouse locations

Order Picking and Packing:

  • Accurately pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment based on client and operational requirements
  • Ensure that products are packaged securely to prevent damage during transit

Inventory Management:

  • Participate in regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy
  • Assist with investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain records of stock levels and report any shortages or excesses to supervisors

Loading and Dispatching:

  • Assist with loading outgoing shipments onto trucks and other transport vehicles
  • Ensure orders are correctly processed and prepared for dispatch in a timely manner

Health & Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all company safety guidelines and operating procedures to maintain a safe working environment
  • Report any hazards, safety incidents, or equipment malfunctions to supervisors
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and handling of machinery

General Warehouse Duties:

  • Always maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with other warehouse team members and departments to meet performance and quality targets

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum Grade 12 (Matric) or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of warehouse or logistics experience preferred
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and basic inventory procedures
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in handling goods
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy items, as the role requires standing, lifting, and manual labour
  • Forklift operation certification is an advantage
