Senior Network Analytics Engineer
/10
Job Description
Maersk connects people, businesses and markets across the world. You will join a team that builds and strengthens the analytical and optimization foundation behind our global network planning. We use data, modelling and advanced optimization algorithms to support better operational and strategic decisions. We are a diverse, international community where different backgrounds, perspectives and experiences make us stronger. We work openly and collaboratively and value curiosity, clarity and shared ownership.
Ready to shape the next generation of Maersk’s optimization intelligence?
This senior role sets direction for how optimisation and modelling guide planning and network design at Maersk. You will define problem structures, design optimisation models and heuristics, and lead new capabilities from concept through validation and into implementation. You will drive the innovation agenda, guide change across the value chain and ensure new methods translate into real improvements for planners and decision makers. You will act as a technical lead, mentor others and help turn strong ideas into scalable, reliable solutions. You will work on challenging container flow, routing and network design problems that require strong problem framing, deep modelling expertise and a practical engineering mindset.
What we offer
To work at Maersk is to step into a world of opportunity and impact. You’ll collaborate with talented professionals who keep global trade moving—shaping the flow of goods, ideas, and possibilities across the planet. Here, your growth truly matters. With access to world‑class learning, supportive leaders, and space to stretch your potential, you can build a career that takes you further than you imagined. You’ll be part of a diverse, inclusive community where you’re valued for your unique strengths and celebrated for the contributions you make. And with flexible hybrid working and industry‑leading benefits, you’ll have the freedom and support to thrive—professionally and personally
Within your impact and responsibilities, you will:
- Design advanced optimisation models and heuristics and take them from idea to validated and implemented capability
- Frame complex planning problems as clear mathematical formulations with explicit assumptions and success criteria
- Build reusable modelling components that follow modern engineering standards and integrate with production data systems
- Improve existing optimisation logic by closing gaps and lifting performance and scalability
- Run structured experiments to compare alternatives and verify model behaviour with data
- Translate findings into clear recommendations and partner with stakeholders to drive implementation and adoption
- Shape the innovation roadmap by identifying new application areas and accelerating promising concepts into pilots and scale
- Coach junior analysts and raise standards in modelling practice, documentation and code quality
- Communicate results, trade offs and limitations in simple and decision-oriented language
What you'll be accountable for:
- Integrity, stability and performance of optimisation logic used in planning and decision making
- Robust validation and successful implementation of new modelling features with clear readiness criteria
- Clear documentation of assumptions, constraints and data dependencies to support transparent decisions
- A value based and well prioritised modelling backlog focused on measurable business impact and time to value
- Demonstrated improvements in modelling logic, scalability and performance in real planning scenarios
- Effective adoption and correct use of optimisation capabilities across the user community with visible change outcomes
- Active contribution to the optimisation innovation pipeline by shaping new concepts, evaluating emerging methods and advancing promising ideas toward pilots and scale
- Leadership in the transformation agenda by helping teams shift from manual work to model driven planning and ensuring new solutions are embedded and used with confidence
What you bring:
A deep technical expertise, strong analytical judgement and a record of leading optimisation solutions from first principles through implementation and adoption. You communicate clearly with both technical and non technical audiences and you take ownership of delivery and outcomes.
You offer:
- A master’s degree or PhD in engineering, mathematics, computer science or a related quantitative field with exposure to optimisation or modelling
- Documented experience designing and deploying optimisation models or decision support algorithms in operational or production environments
- Expert level Python skills, experience applying C++ for performance critical components and strong SQL capabilities
- Advanced knowledge of Operations Research, including Mixed Integer Programming, graph theory, decomposition methods, and large-scale optimisation
- Strength in problem framing, algorithm design, empirical validation and scaling solutions
- Confident use of Git and modern software engineering workflows
- Ability to collaborate smoothly across diverse functions and to build strong working relationships that support clear communication, shared problem solving and aligned decision making
- Ability to lead change by guiding stakeholders through adoption, explaining trade offs and ensuring appropriate use of models
- A disciplined approach to documentation, testing, version control and reproducibility
It is a plus if you also bring:
- Familiarity with GPU based acceleration or parallel computation for optimising large problem instances
- Experience with AI or machine learning methods
- Knowledge of deep learning architectures and training workflows
- Background in advanced statistics or statistical inference
- Experience with time series modelling or forecasting techniques
If you're ready to jump in, push the boundaries of modelling and optimisation, and make a visible impact from day one, let’s connect. We’re excited to see the ideas, expertise, and momentum you’ll bring as we elevate Maersk’s decision‑support capabilities and shape the future of our network planning technologies.
