Job Description

Commercial Planning models and forecasts the capacity required by Maersk to meet commercial demands for operational assets, infrastructure, facilities, and of producing a capacity plan. Includes the ability to forecast demands for customers & vendors. Management stream includes those who primarily lead people for whom they have employee lifecycle responsibilities including hire/fire decisions, coaching/mentoring, coordination of tasks, appraising performance, pay reviews, and developing for future assignments. The management responsibilities are in addition to job specific accountabilities for objectives such as setting direction and developing business & operational areas, developing policies & practices, and implementing business plans. The planning horizon can vary from short to long term dependent on the career stage and goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. Progression within this stream reflects acquisition of broad technical expertise, business and industry knowledge, and process and people leadership capabilities. A colleague at this level has in-depth knowledge and experience in a functional area. The colleague routinely applies subject matter knowledge to solve common business issues operating within practices and procedures covered by precedents or well-defined policies. A colleague at this level handles most situations independently, receives minimal guidance, but will seek advice, guidance and support on more complex or non-routine topcis. The colleague understands the overall nature of the business and the interdependencies between own and other functions. Leaders at this level are accountable for performance and results in teams of less experienced professionals, frontline workers and admins, and will adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Contract & Commercial Management

  • Assist in preparing, reviewing, and negotiating customer contracts, service agreements, and renewals under the GM’s supervision.

  • Evaluate new business proposals, ensuring alignment between operational capability, cost structure, and pricing strategy.

  • Maintain contract documentation and ensure compliance with internal governance and audit standards.

  • Support change management, contract extensions, and scope modifications with accurate cost impact analysis.

2. Financial & Profitability Control

  • Analyze financial performance for each customer (P&L by account) and identify margin improvement opportunities.

  • Validate cost models, billing accuracy, and revenue recognition to ensure profitability.

  • Partner with Finance and Operations teams to prepare pricing proposals and business cases.

  • Track commercial KPIs including revenue growth, renewal rates, and cost recovery metrics.

3. Customer & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Act as commercial point of contact for assigned key accounts.

  • Participate in customer meetings, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and service improvement discussions.

  • Collaborate with operations, business development, procurement, and legal teams to resolve contract or pricing issues.

  • Support tender management and proposal submissions with pricing and commercial documentation.

4. Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure all contracts meet legal, financial, and operational compliance requirements.

  • Monitor exposure to penalties, claims, or performance risks and recommend preventive actions.

  • Support audits, internal controls, and documentation accuracy.

5. Team & Process Development

  • Supervise and coach commercial analysts or coordinators in data analysis, pricing, and contract administration.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement in commercial processes, tools, and reporting dashboards.

  • Support the GM in driving commercial excellence, standardization, and governance frameworks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, Finance, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field.

Experience:

  • 7–12 years of experience in 3PL, logistics, or supply chain management.

  • Minimum 3 years in a commercial, pricing, or contract management leadership role.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong understanding of warehousing, distribution, and transport operations.

  • Proficiency in cost modeling, financial analysis, and Excel-based pricing tools.

  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS/TMS systems and contract management platforms.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and presentation skills.

  • Good business judgment and problem-solving ability.

  • Team leadership and stakeholder management skills.

  • High attention to detail with a proactive, solution-driven mindset.
