Opportunity

Maersk Crewing teams are responsible for ensuring that the close to 300 Maersk vessels flying various flags, are always manned with competent and engaged crew, while complying with various international regulations and company procedures. Crewing operations are run out of Mumbai, Singapore, Manila, and Copenhagen while supported by Marine People Teams based in Europe, India, and the Philippines.

You will contribute as a high-performing member of the team responsible for carrying out the

assigned operational duties and tasks. You will also be tasked with regular process reviews and be expected to drive improvements within crewing operations.

  • Exposure to crew management related tasks and dynamic Marine HR operations.

  • Building a good multi-level network across the fleet.

  • Enhancing coordination and communication skills especially while dealings with other stakeholders such as Fleet Superintendents, Local Agents and Crew Managers.

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Crew Manager for Singapore Crewing, you will be based in Singapore.

You will be responsible for independent management of daily operational responsibilities including:

  • Managing assignments for Senior Deck as well as Senior Engineer Officers and Cadets in the Maersk fleet flying various flags.

  • Planning, organizing, and monitoring activities related to crew requirements with reference to the E2E Crewing Business Process Guide.

  • Planning timely crew changes and coordinate with concerned parties for its effective implementation.

  • Working with Crewing teams in other locations to ensure that all Maersk vessels are manned in the best manner possible as per requirement.

  • Consistently ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements, SOP’s, and Key Performance Indicators.

  • Implementing selection, embarkation, and disembarkation procedures/flights as reflected in the SOP’s and the accountability matrix.

  • Updating crew data in the official database system, as required (COMPAS)

  • Executing responsibilities and tasks in line with what constitutes as good performance as per agreed satisfactory performance standards and metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Performance Indicators or KPIs)

  • Driving efficiency within team through regular process reviews.

  • Driving service delivery improvement, providing progress updates on the activities performed.

  • Achieving stakeholder satisfaction, reflecting in formal review channels such as the engagement surveys and weekly meetings/performance review meetings.

We are looking for

The ideal candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's/College degree, Business Studies within Administration/Management combined preferably with 5+ years of experience specializing in Manning/Crewing/Marine HR or equivalent.

You:

  • Are an excellent communicator with impeccable command and fluency in English

  • Have a strong natural drive for results, as well as excellent stakeholder management skills.

  • Possess a proactive and positive attitude, enthusiasm, and ability to cooperate in an open and constructive manner.

  • Can plan and execute in a structured manner, which is critical to succeed in the position.

  • Can interact effectively in an international setting with diverse nationalities.

  • Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Are a strong team player who is self-motivated, adaptable to change and comfortable with ambiguity.

  • A background in seafaring would be advantageous
