Job Description

Regional Head of Maersk Project Logistics Operations – Europe | Aarhus, Denmark

At Maersk, our ambition is clear: to become the global integrator of logistics.

Delivering on that ambition in Project Logistics means more than moving oversized cargo - it requires precision, governance, engineering expertise, and operational leadership that can perform under complexity, risk, and scrutiny.

To lead this agenda across Europe, we are looking for a Regional Head of Maersk Project Logistics (MPL) Operations. This is a senior leadership role at the core of our MPL product, accountable for regional operational excellence, profitability, compliance, and capability - while shaping how MPL evolves for the future.

This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution: defining standards, leading teams, aligning stakeholders, and ensuring that the most complex logistics projects in the region are delivered safely, seamlessly, and profitably.

The Role

As Regional Head of MPL Operations – Europe, you will own the end‑to‑end operational agenda for Maersk Project Logistics across the region. You will set direction, enable execution, and build a high‑performing operational organisation aligned with global MPL standards and Maersk’s integrator strategy.

This is not a role focused purely on delivery control. It is about operational leadership at scale; building governance, developing talent, managing risk, and continuously improving how complex, non‑standard logistics services are executed across markets and industries.

You will act as the regional operational authority for MPL, working in close partnership with global Centre OPS, commercial leaders, QHSE, and customers.

What You Will Lead

Regional MPL Operations Leadership (Europe)

  • Own all MPL product operations across Europe, ensuring consistent execution, strong governance, and high service performance across projects, countries, and teams.
  • Deliver regional operational budgets while balancing safety, quality, customer experience, and profitability.
  • Translate global MPL standards into practical regional execution, ensuring clarity, consistency, and accountability.

Operational Standards & Excellence

  • Define, implement, and continuously improve operational standards, processes, and tool usage across the region.
  • Drive efficiency, accuracy, and reliability in project execution through structured methodologies, data‑driven performance management, and disciplined governance.
  • Ensure operational readiness for increasingly complex, high‑risk, and high‑value projects.

People, Talent & Capability

  • Build and lead a future‑ready MPL operations organisation through strong leadership, coaching, and capability development.
  • Drive attraction, onboarding, training, and succession planning to ensure deep operational competence and sustainable bench strength across the region.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder & Matrix Leadership

  • Act as the primary regional voice for MPL Operations, partnering closely with:
    • Global Centre OPS
    • Commercial and customer teams
    • Engineering, procurement, and asset functions
    • QHSE leadership
  • Ensure operational perspectives shape commercial commitments, product development, and customer solutions.

Compliance, Risk & QHSE

  • Uphold strict compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and QHSE standards.
  • Partner closely with the European Head of QHSE to embed risk management, operational resilience, and safety leadership into daily execution.
  • Ensure robust escalation, incident management, and assurance practices across all projects.

Product & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute strategic input into MPL product roadmaps, maturity plans, and innovation initiatives.
  • Lead regional continuous improvement programmes, leveraging digital tools, emerging technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Drive learning from execution - using data, post‑project reviews, and customer feedback to improve performance at scale.

Customer Escalation & Exception Management

  • Act as the senior escalation point for complex or critical customer issues.
  • Provide decisive leadership to regional and area operations teams to resolve challenges swiftly while protecting customer trust and long‑term value.

Accountabilities

  • Safe, compliant, and reliable delivery of MPL projects across Europe
  • Profitable regional operations with strong budget discipline
  • Consistent operational standards and governance
  • High customer satisfaction and service performance
  • A capable, engaged, and future‑ready MPL operations organisation

What We’re Looking For

  • Senior operational leadership experience in Project Logistics or complex logistics environments
  • Proven success leading operations across regions, markets, or large-scale networks
  • Strong background in process optimisation, governance, and performance management
  • Credibility with senior stakeholders in matrix organisations
  • A strategic mindset combined with hands‑on operational judgement
  • Strong understanding of supply chain, project execution, and risk management
  • Digital‑first and analytical approach to operational excellence

Why Maersk?

Maersk Project Logistics operates where complexity is highest and execution matters most.

This role gives you real influence - not only over how projects are delivered today, but over how MPL operations evolve for the future.

You will shape standards, build capability, and leave a lasting operational footprint in one of Maersk’s most specialised and strategically important product areas.

If you are driven by operational excellence, leadership impact, and the challenge of delivering the extraordinary - we would like to hear from you.
