
Job Description
Ocean Surcharge Focal role works quite differently from other roles. They are partnering with stakeholders and adding lot of values to business. This needs expertise & technical knowledge. This position also needs good communication & convincing capabilities. This position is an enabler within GSC to support CEN, clusters, sales and other downstream GSC teams. The job is a unique IC role within the pricing portfolio, which involves collaboration, challenging, standardising (where possible). Also, analysis skillset & effective communication using Professionalism, Empathy and Efficiency (PEE) as to ensure an effective service to stakeholders through efficient support and positive relations.
Key responsibilities
Challenge positively and effectively for 'win win' situation.
Communicate proactively & effectively with various stakeholders (Centre, cluster, sales & GSC downstream team) to ensure compliance to the pricing framework.
Act as GSC 'go to' person for revenue & contract product management.
Analyse data pertaining to business and come up with suggestions to add values to business and the outcome (Revenue tapping, Cost saving, improve customer experience, etc..)
Ensure there is no deviation from the Pricing standards.
Identify non-compliance and work closely with the stakeholders to fix it.
Act as consultant in providing surcharge related solutions to complex problems.
First point of contact for any surcharge related issues.
The role includes challenging status quo with stakeholders & trying to arrest the revenue leakages and ensure rate availability to customers all time with precisely.
Drive joint initiatives between GSC and Revenue management (ROM/CPM/ROP/IPM) which should help to achieve organization goals and to build a good rapport.
Understand Customer’s requirement and focus on customer/revenue outcome.
High attention to quality - 100% is mandatory.
Identify and prioritize tasks effectively.
Timely reporting to Process Manager on day-to-day team performance and issues
Shift - 6PM to 3 AM (Can be rotational basis business needs)
Required qualification, experience & skills
Graduate in any discipline
Good in communication, process improvement, analytics & convincing skills
Minimum experience of 3 years in this portfolio
Ability to work under pressure - with high sense of urgency.
Detail oriented - ability to perform processes as per pre-defined design.
Good presentation and Microsoft excel skills.
Should be able to analyse / foresee challenges.
General awareness of the practical side of Commercial processes in shipping industry
Expert in understanding short term & Long-term business.
Understand the E2E business along with the required pricing systems.
Understanding of price calculations, surcharge applications, additional costs & booking requirements
Should be able to explain clearly to all stakeholders on exceptions & also if a different approach needs to be taken for route, pricings, etc.
Proficient in accessing AFLS modules since most of the pricing related activities happens in AFLS application.
Understand the SPOT business/logics and contract products to handle the business more efficiently.
Knowledge of PMA & ML.com is an advantage.
Knowledge in Upstream and Downstream processes is preferable to collaborate things in a better way
