
Ops Excellence Partner - Automation

Opportunity
At Maersk, we are transforming global logistics through innovation, digitalization, and continuous improvement. We are looking for an experienced Operations Excellence Partner – Automation to drive automation initiatives and operational excellence across our Oceania business.
This role partners closely with operational and functional leaders to identify opportunities, redesign processes, and implement scalable digital solutions that improve efficiency, standardization, and customer outcomes. As part of our Operations Excellence team, you will play a key role in deploying The Maersk Way (TMW) operating system while leveraging automation technologies to create measurable business value. The ideal candidate should be able to connect operational pain points with practical digital solutions, manage the initiative end to end, and ensure the solution is adopted by the business.

Key Responsibilities
Drive Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Drive and support Operations Excellence initiatives with a strong focus on automation and digital transformation.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify improvement opportunities and translate business requirements into scalable digital workflows.
- Design, build and implement end-to-end process improvement and automation solutions, from opportunity identification and project management through to hands-on technical delivery, deployment, adoption and benefits realisation.”
- Facilitate Lean improvement workshops utilizing methodologies including Six Sigma, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and problem-solving frameworks.
- Challenge existing processes and operating standards to improve productivity, quality, and customer outcomes.
- Monitor implemented solutions to ensure sustainable business improvements and ongoing optimization.
Deploy The Maersk Way (TMW)
- Lead the deployment of The Maersk Way operating system across Oceania.
- Support leaders in embedding TMW principles into daily operations and performance management.
- Deliver coaching and training using the Train-the-Trainer methodology to build continuous improvement capability across the business.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence through standardization, governance, and data-driven decision making.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, Product, Customer Experience, Sales, Finance, Procurement, Technology, Safety, and People teams.
- Work closely withthe business, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Functional Process Owners (FPOs), and regional Operations Excellence teams to strengthen governance and process ownership.
- Building and deploying solutions, while still partnering effectively with Technology, Operations and leadership teams where required.
What You'll Bring
- Experience within Supply Chain, Logistics, Transportation, or 3PL operations.
- Demonstrated success leading continuous improvement and automation initiatives.
- Experience with automation technologies such as:
- Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate, Power BI, Power Apps and related automation tools
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability
- Strong SQL/reporting capability, including the design of new reports and redesign of existing SQL-based reports across platforms such as CargoWise One, SAP or similar enterprise systems
- Strong command of Python or equivalent scripting languages
- API integration experience, including cross-system communication and automation of data and process flows
- Microsoft Azure experience, including cloud-based deployment of automation solutions
- Microsoft Graph or similar enterprise API experience
- Experience with containerised/cloud deployment environments such as Azure, Podman, Kubernetes or similar would be highly valuable
- Strong understanding of AI technologies, with the ability to practically apply AI as part of process improvement initiatives
- Strong understanding of Lean methodologies including Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Ability to partner with leadership teams to identify improvement opportunities and deliver measurable operational outcomes
- Strong process improvement capability, including problem definition, process mapping, root cause analysis, implementation planning, change management and benefits tracking
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to use data to influence decisions.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience influencing across multiple business functions.
- Strong project and change management capabilities.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Information Systems, or related discipline is preferred.
