Operation Excellence Continuous Improvement Partner Intern

Contract Duration: 6 months (renewable)


We are seeking a motivated and curious intern to join our Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement team. This role supports the implementation of improvement initiatives within logistics warehouses and distribution centers, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency, productivity, and service quality. It offers hands-on experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, CAD modeling, and process mapping while collaborating with cross-functional and regional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in analyzing warehouse and logistics processes to identify inefficiencies, waste, and opportunities for improvement using tools like value stream mapping and time and motion studies.

  • Participate in operational audits using Lean tools such as 5S and Value Stream Mapping to assess current performance.

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives based on Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.

  • Support the development of solutions to optimize workflows, reduce costs, enhance safety, and improve customer satisfaction.

  • Use CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to model and simulate layout changes or operational improvements.

  • Create detailed process maps to visualize and improve information and material flows.

  • Support the coordination and execution of improvement projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and goals are met.

  • Assist in tracking project progress and impact using KPIs and basic statistical analysis.

  • Contribute to training materials and sessions for operational teams on Lean tools and problem-solving methods.

  • Participate in Kaizen events, coaching sessions, and workshops to observe and apply best practices.

  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement through collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

  • Collaborate with sub-regional and regional teams to share insights and support cross-location improvement efforts.

  • Ensure effective communication and stakeholder alignment under team guidance.

  • Help develop and update standard operating procedures and ensure their consistent application.

  • Support regular audits to check compliance with established standards and identify improvement areas.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field.

  • Interest in Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow or Green Belt) is a plus.

  • Previous internship or academic project experience in logistics, warehousing, or operations is preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma principles and continuous improvement tools.

  • Exposure to CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and process mapping software (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart) is an advantage.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint).

  • Strong Excel skills: familiarity with Power BI or similar tools is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Foundational understanding of project management concepts.

  • Bilingual in French and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Curious and eager to learn.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.

  • Collaborative and culturally sensitive.

  • Results-driven and able to manage tasks in a dynamic environment.
