
IT Manager for Alabama Terminal (On-site)
Job Description
APM Terminals
Purpose of the role
To ensure that an organization's technology infrastructure and operations run smoothly and efficiently. This involves a range of responsibilities including strategic planning, team leadership, operational management, and security oversight.
Work with Regional and Global teams to execute on the modernization, standardization, and security agenda of the company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning and Alignment:
- Identify technology needs and create a technology roadmap for the Terminal.
- Collaborate with department heads to understand their requirements.
- Collaborate with Global and local teams to evaluate and select vendors, hardware, and software that aligns with the Terminal’s roadmap.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Supervise IT staff, assign objectives, tasks, and set priorities.
- Recruit, train, and coach employees.
- Ensure team members have the necessary tools and resources.
- IT Operations and Support:
- Manage the Terminal’s technology landscape.
- Deliver on Key metrics around cyber, system reliability and documentation.
- Maintain and support procedures to ensure reliability of technology to support operations.
- Ensure the security of data, network access, and backup systems.
- Project Management:
- Plan, organize, and control IT projects.
- Implement and coordinate systems, policies, and procedures.
- Handle annual budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Security and Risk Management:
- Identify and address problematic areas.
- Implement strategic solutions in a timely manner.
- Audit systems and assess their outcomes.
Skillset
- Intermediate knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
- Intermediate understanding of Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc.).
- Proficient in VLANs, VPNs, and WAN technologies.
- Familiarity with OCR software and tools
- Understanding of stevedoring operations and logistics.
- Experience with automation software and tools specific to the stevedoring industry.
- Ability to prepare, manage, and monitor IT budgets.
- Proficient in cost-benefit analysis and financial forecasting.
Qualifications:
- Education
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field of study
Soft Skillsets
- Strong communication skills, experience with executive level updates, logical complex problem solving, ability to collaborate cross-functionally, self-driven, able to multitask multiple projects, can lead incident calls focusing on restoring services and providing timely updates to stakeholders. Willingness to be available and jump in when incidents happen, and restoration is business critical. Strong leadership and team management skills. Strong communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external vendors.
Experience
- Over 8+ years of Total IT Management Experience with windows administration and VMWare administration
- Experience with technology for the industry (Gate Operating Systems, Terminal Operating Systems, Optical Character Recognition Systems, LTE, amongst others)
- Managing and understanding of ESC/ESXI, Veeam Backup and Replication
- Expertise in Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, WSUS and Active Directory Services
- Experience with VMWare ESX/ESXI technologies, expertise with HA/DRS

Pay Range:
$140,000 to $150,000*
*The above stated pay range is the anticipated starting salary range for the position. The Company may adjust this range in light of prevailing market conditions and other factors such as location. The Company will work directly with the selected candidate(s) on the final starting salary in accordance with all applicable laws.
