The Role
The HV Technician is a hands-on technical expert responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing high-voltage equipment across our terminals and associated facilities. This role is critical to ensuring uninterrupted power supply and operational efficiency in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HV equipment to maximize reliability
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns or faults, restoring power safely and efficiently
  • Collaborate with engineers, grid operators, and technical teams during upgrades, shutdowns, and troubleshooting
  • Diagnose and repair faults in HV systems, replacing defective components as needed
  • Conduct electrical testing and commissioning, ensuring compliance with operational and safety standards
  • Install HV equipment including transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and protection systems
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, test results, and incidents
  • Implement strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures

What We’re Looking For

Essential Experience

  • 3–5 years working with high-voltage systems and related equipment
  • Strong understanding of HV electrical principles, circuit theory, transformers, relays, and switchgear
  • Skilled in using HV testing tools (insulation resistance testers, HV testers, multimeters, clamp meters)
  • Deep knowledge of electrical safety standards and PPE requirements

Education & Certifications

  • Diploma or degree (BAC +2) in Electrical/Electromechanical Engineering or related field
  • Certification in HV systems (e.g., HV Switching Operations, OSHA, or equivalent)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with utility-scale power distribution systems
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems or substation automation
  • Knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards

Skills & Attributes

  • Physically fit for work in confined spaces, heights, and demanding environments
  • High attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in diverse teams

Working Conditions

  • Location: Ports, substations, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects
  • Hours: Full-time with potential shift work, weekends, and emergency call-outs
  • Environment: High-risk electrical settings and outdoor work in varying weather conditions
