Job Description
Do you enjoy solving complex puzzles?
The Equipment Flow team tackles one of the most complex and dynamic challenges in Maersk — ensuring the right containers are in the right place at the right time, across a constantly moving global network. As an Equipment Lead, you will play a key role in optimizing the empty container fleet. You will coordinate across multiple internal and external stakeholders to enable seamless equipment flow, improve operational efficiency, and drive effective cost management across the network.
We Offer: An exciting career opportunity within an international, fast paced, and highly dynamic business environment defined by diversity, scale, and complexity. In this role, you will take ownership of equipment operations and empty container management with strong regional exposure. You will work at the heart of Maersk’s global network, contributing directly to operational performance and service reliability. You will also be part of a highly professional and collaborative team where your contributions are recognized, your ideas are valued, and your impact truly matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage equipment flow activities across pools, including import returns, export pickups, inventory management, and empty repositioning
- Co-manage vendors (depots, terminals, etc.) alongside the ELM Lead, ensuring performance aligns with contracted SLAs, including equipment utilization, unit cost, dwell time, and quality standards, while also participating in vendor audits
- Closely liaise with Commercial counterparts (Sales/Market teams) to prevent overbooking situations and maintain operational balance
- Collaborate with Ocean and Feeder Fulfillment teams to execute supply and evacuation plans while optimizing vessel utilization in line with global and regional equipment flow guidelines
- Identify operational bottlenecks and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Participate in performance and cost reviews, conducting deep-dive analysis to improve efficiency and drive cost savings
- Drive forecasting accuracy across all equipment types in partnership with commercial teams, while promoting awareness of empty positioning costs
- Support company transformation and digitization initiatives and ensure successful rollout within the area
- Deliver a high customer experience by ensuring equipment is available in the right condition, at the right place, and at the right time
Required Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field
Strong understanding of container logistics, vessel operations, or equipment (empty container) repositioning is a plus
- Prior experience in shipping, logistics, container operations, or supply chain/equipment flow management will be highly preferred
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence, manage conflicts, and build strong working relationships across commercial, operations, and vendor teams
- A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and the ability to work effectively across regions and functions in a fast-paced, global environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and drive informed operational decisions
- Self-driven and structured approach to working within defined processes, guidelines, and operational constraints
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with tools such as ROCK, RKEM, COMET, MEPC, GSIS, and Power BI will be an added advantage
- Commercial awareness of shipping/logistics operations, including understanding of flows, capacity, and cost drivers, will be beneficial
- A continuous improvement mindset — someone who thrives on solving complex operational puzzles and driving efficiency in equipment flow and utilization
