Job Description

Would you like to be part of a value-driven, commercially oriented international environment where we enable global trade every day? An opportunity exists for a Direct Transport Sales (DTS) Team Lead to join our team in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

The DTS Team Lead will be responsible for supporting the Area DTS Manager to set direction for the country/regional DTS team and translate strategy into disciplined commercial execution. The role provides day-to-day sales leadership, coaching, pipeline rigor, and performance management for the DTS team to deliver profitable growth, superior customer outcomes and the ability to align customer needs with Maersk’s global shipping and logistics services, making a tangible impact on our customers’ supply chains.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team Leadership & Direction:

  • Work with the DTS Manager to cascade Area DTS strategy into clear team plans and individual accountabilities.

  • Drive and coach the team on various improvement aspects including but not limited to client relationships, lead targeting, administrative tasks and inter departmental cohesion.

  • Identify skills gaps and create plans to mitigate these gaps.

  • Continuously push for improvement on pipeline hygiene, customer focus and target achievement.

  • Create a high level of team camaraderie and spirit amongst the local and wider/regional DTS teams.

Commercial Execution & Pipeline Rigor:

  • Own pipeline health for the team and lead periodic follow up on win/lose status.

  • Ensure a detailed and strategic approach towards constantly attaining sales targets.

  • Drive an aggressive approach towards New Store Sales and align with area targets, broken into focused plans to convert new clients.

Customer Leadership:

  • Maintain a high level of customer centricity towards all discussions and processes with clients.

  • Champion customer experience and build local ecosystem relationships.

  • Understand the customer landscape and how to manage expectations through the available interdepartmental resources and expertise.

Cross-Functional Orchestration:

  • Partner with Product, Operations, Procurement, Finance and CX to translate customer demand into deliverable solutions.

Performance Management & Governance:

  • Maintain CRM data quality.

  • Enforce compliance and ensure a high level of adherence to guidelines on protocol.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Someone with:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain or related fields

  • At least 5 years’ experience in B2B logistics/transportation sales

  • Proven team leadership.

  • Strong commercial acumen in converting leads to actual business

  • CRM proficiency and data-driven management
