
Job Description
This role is accountable for customs clearance service coordination between Maersk customers, internal stakeholders and the vendor in Romania, including but not limited to support in business implementation, adherence to customers SOPs and IOPs, monitoring daily operations, managing proactively exceptions, executing FinOps tasks.
Additionally, high level of interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset is required as the focus will remain on multiproduct (Ocean + Inland + Depot) solutions offered to customers.
What you’ll be doing
• Monitor end-to-end customs process based on 3rd party vendor performance
• Execute FinOps tasks accurately and timely
• Orchestrate the overall flow of shipments to ensure seamless execution (“forwarding”)
• Proactively manage exception and problem files, implementing corrective actions to mitigate risk and prevent service failures
• Resolve customer and stakeholder queries promptly and professionally
• Maintain a customer-centric approach, preventing errors and ensuring continuous improvement
• Monitor adherence to SOPs and IOPs during daily operations and related KPIs
• Identify process deviations and proactively communicate them
• Respond to inquiries promptly and escalate issues when required
• Ensure smooth onboarding and delivery for new customers
• Ensure Customs remains well-positioned across customer segments
• Partner with Business Development teams on customer opportunities
• Support cross-sell and up-sell initiatives and contribute to customer retention
• Provide value-adding business solutions through strong process understanding
• Maintain effective communication, including participation in client calls
• Record and report performance insights to support service improvements
• Collaborate with KCMs and the Commercial team to strengthen customer relationships
• Support pricing discussions and negotiations
• Partner with CX, operations, compliance, and product teams
• Execute reports and tasks assigned by the Team Leader/Manager
Required Business / Technical Knowledge:
• Knowledge of customs regulations and country-specific procedures, including representation models; understanding of Harmonized System classification, duty/tax determination, and deferment accounts.
• Proficiency with customs and billing systems (Kewill, Cargo wise) and Excel based validation.
• Experience in Logistics or related fields
• Fluency in Romanian and English language
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong customer-centric mindset and passion for service excellence
• Results-driven attitude with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Team-oriented mindset and collaborative spirit
• Solid understanding of operational processes
• Sense of urgency and persistence in driving issues to closure
