Position Summary

The Customs Operation Manager holds a central position assisting the Inland Operation Manager in ensuring efficient and cost-effective physical delivery operations, for which effective communication and coordination with all external and internal stakeholders are critical. This position is accountable for driving intermodal performance & commercial orientation/awareness as well as assisting the Inland Operation Manager on coaching junior & senior staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Be responsible for managing a team size of 7+ members.

• Coordinate with Customers, Maersk Trucking team and Customs Officers for stuffing plan and/or to arrange services on schedule, for timely collection and dispatch of shipments.

• Proactively attend all inquiries from Customers, well communicate with related parties in case of exceptions.

• Be the first escalation point to solve or coach the team members to solve the daily operation problems.

• Drive compliance and safety in daily operations.

• Set up SOP/ IOPs, processes in line with customer’s requirements and internal processes.

• Set up regular meetings with internal parties and with external parties to review performance and improve operation processes.

• Supported customer service and the sales and products team in customer query resolution and exception handling.

• Engage team members, ensure they work in a collaborative manner & make an effort to improve team performance.

• Conduct regular training and coaching to team members.

• Conduct objectives setting and staff performance management

• Be a role model for striving for continuous improvement and a customer-centric mindset.

• Be aware of market intelligence and analyse what they are means to our operations.

• Carry out ad-hoc tasks assigned by Management

• Work closely with other teams for knowledge sharing, monitor KPIs’, improve reporting within the organization and move towards standardization of process.

Critical Competencies

• At least 05 - 07 years' professional working experience at Customs Operation Management role in Import - Export Operation / Logistics Business

• In-depth knowledge & practical experience in customs formalities operations & transportation handling: container pick up/drop off, data entry in VNACCS, customs liquidation, HS code classification, price’s evaluation

• Certificate of CHB / Custom Clearance is a plus

• Direct experience at similar role(s) in 3PLs is a big plus

• Language proficiency: native Vietnamese level, professional English level.

• Have good Planning, Customer Service and Communication skills.

• Have good leadership skills. Able to manage and develop the team

• Have good stakeholder management skills.

• Have a strong process-oriented approach and attention to detail.

• Resilient team player who is result-focus and demonstrates a high level of commitment with the ability to work independently.
