
Assistant Manager Procurement – Contract Logistics
Job Description
The Assistant Manager Procurement – Contract Logistics will be responsible for managing sourcing, vendor onboarding, tendering, operational purchasing, and procurement support activities for Maersk Contract Logistics operations. The role requires close coordination with operations, finance, and regional procurement teams to ensure cost-effective, compliant, and efficient procurement of goods, services, CAPEX items, and third-party services across warehousing, middle mile transport, cold chain, and depot operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and initiate vendor pre-qualification and onboarding activities.
- Analyze vendor profiles and evaluate commercial proposals in the best interest of the company.
- Prepare RFIs, RFPs, annual tenders, and procurement documentation as per business requirements.
- Manage tendering processes through Keelvar and support vendor onboarding via Ironclad and SAP.
- Develop and maintain category-wise vendor databases.
- Support procurement activities for third-party managed sites and Contract Logistics operations.
- Coordinate with Operations Excellence teams for procurement-related data integration and reporting.
- Assist in commercial evaluations for buying vs. rental/lease decisions.
- Prepare procurement scorecards, evaluation matrices, and approval summaries.
- Conduct market research, benchmarking, and sourcing analysis.
- Manage operational purchasing requirements for warehouses, cold chain logistics, and depot operations.
- Handle procurement of CAPEX items including racking, MHEs, BTS equipment, civil works, and repair & maintenance services.
- Support achievement of procurement savings and variable cost targets.
- Maintain and update Procurement Performance Management (PPM) records and tracking.
- Manage onboarding and coordination of third-party vendors including manpower and security service providers.
- Support development and implementation of procurement SOPs and compliance protocols.
- Prepare procurement reports for area and regional management.
- Perform other procurement-related tasks assigned by management.
