Summary

Full responsibility for managing and leading the team in daily operations to meet both internal and external KPIs, and to grow the team in line with the DC Manager’s vision. Full responsibility for the day-to-day operations P&L and managing costs through demand planning and accurate forecasting.

Scope of Work:

The Assistant Manager is tasked with assembling and leading a proficient team, strategizing workforce allocation, streamlining workflow processes, upholding elevated productivity benchmarks, and comprehending the intricacies of the business model (GMP). Our key client exhibits expertise in both warehouse operations and commercial costing models, demanding swift adaptability from the Operations Manager to accommodate their variable requirements. Acquiring a detailed comprehension of operations stands as a pivotal determinant for the Assistant Manager's success in handling the business.

Job Description:

Team Management

  • Develop and nurture operational teams across various functions in alignment with the organizational structure, including operations supervisors, system superusers, outbound and inbound leaders, among others.

  • Conduct prompt evaluations of supervisors to ensure their proficiency in steering the team towards operational KPI achievement, recognizing their pivotal role in swiftly stabilizing new operations.

  • Facilitate training initiatives and foster the growth of team members to attain career development objectives.

  • Work with the DC Manager to manage the surge in volume during peak seasons, which may escalate to 5-10 times the daily volume.

Workflow Management

  • Lead and facilitate training sessions for team members to grasp intricate operational processes and systems, fostering a comprehensive understanding of the client’s KPIs and operational models.

  • Guide supervisors in creating daily operational plans for each team based on customer forecasts and the current operations team's performance levels (productivity).

  • Monitor and analyze production and productivity metrics for each team, fostering seamless collaboration among supervisors and ensuring the smooth progression of operations.

  • Oversee inventory supervisors' collaboration with system superusers to promptly address and resolve incident orders, ensuring the maintenance of healthy inventory levels.

  • Ensure managers and supervisors maintain visibility of working hours and productivity metrics for each task.

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging and motivating teams to enhance workflow efficiency and productivity continually.

  • Collaborate closely with the DC Manager to ensure a comprehensive understanding and achievement of monthly GMP targets.

Job Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in contract logistics/distribution center operations.

  • Analytical and strategic thinking, strong customer mindset, and results-oriented.

  • Good business sense, proactive, and detail-minded.

  • Good command of both spoken and written Japanese and English.

  • Proficiency in WMS and Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint.

  • Good interpersonal skills with an outgoing personality to work with employees and customers at all levels.
