Job Description

At Liberis, our mission is to empower small and medium-sized businesses by removing finance as a friction to growth, delivering contextual, embedded financial solutions to support merchants at every stage of their business lifecycle.

The role

As a Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in identifying, evaluating, and initiating new partnership opportunities for Liberis. You’ll be the first point of contact for potential partners, responsible for assessing fit, conducting initial conversations, and collaborating with internal teams to move promising opportunities forward. This is a hands-on, externally facing role ideal for someone who is proactive, commercially minded, and passionate about building relationships.

What you’ll be doing

  • Identify and research potential partners aligned with Liberis’ strategic goals.
  • Initiate outreach and manage first-level conversations with prospective partners.
  • Proactively generate leads and build a robust pipeline through research, networking, and event participation.
  • Qualify inbound and outbound partnership opportunities, conducting initial vetting to assess fit and potential value.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and introductory materials to external parties.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Product, Legal, Partnerships) to ensure smooth handover of qualified opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of pipeline activity and partner interactions in CRM systems.
  • Support the negotiation of partnership terms and assist in onboarding new partners as needed.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Develop tailored proposals and pitch materials for prospective partners.
  • Support commercial negotiations and assist with structuring partnership agreements.
  • Track and report on business development activities, ensuring accurate pipeline management and performance analysis.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance business development effectiveness.

What we think you’ll need

  • 8+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or a related commercial role.
  • Experience in fintech, SaaS, or financial services industries.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence external stakeholders.
  • Experience conducting initial vetting and qualification of business opportunities.
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and follow-through.
