Our biggest teams are based in the UK and Portugal. Our team in Porto focuses on financial reporting and operations, while the team in London is made up of Financial Planning, Reporting, Commercial Finance, Corporate Finance, Tax, Transformation & Controls, and Group Treasury. All of our teams play an instrumental role within the business, from developing best practice, delivering strategic projects and helping us to tell our story with data. Our London office is located in Old Street, London’s tech hub, and is home to a broad range of teams including Commercial, Marketing, and Product. Our open plan space is ideal for collaborative working and sharing ideas, or you can enjoy some quiet time in our dedicated library. We also have a large outdoor terrace which is the perfect spot to have a team lunch or host events.
THE ROLE
The Head of Finance Business Partnering - Customer will partner directly with the Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Brand Officer, and Senior VP Private Client. Leading a team of finance business partners, you’ll develop a world-class finance partnering function who are pivotal in turning insights into actions, driving business performance, profitability and providing support to the Commercial structure encompassing all B2C Marketplaces within the Marketplaces Business Unit.
This role will be accountable for setting the guardrails and holding the functional area to account in order to drive financial performance The role will ensure that the organisation operates with financial coherence and that the senior leaders and stakeholders have a transparent view of how their areas of responsibility are performing, giving clarity on the financial impact of their strategic, operational and trading decisions.This role will report into the Director of Finance Business Partnering - Marketplaces. The role will operate with gravitas, confidence, and credibility, providing both partnership and challenge to the business and leadership in order to maximise the performance of the business.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Partner with the Chief Marketing officer, Chief Brand Officer, and Senior VP Private Client to set the financial guard rails, support agreed strategies to grow the business and drive performance
  • Help to bring alignment of financial management across the diverse elements of the organisation, including retail, platform and variable commission models standardising and rationalising reporting and bringing focus to key financial KPIs.
  • Set and track targets for working capital allocation to inventory, SG&A and capital investments, taking a holistic view of managing financial performance across the organisation component parts as well as across P&L, balance sheet and cash flow for each.
  • Lead a team to deliver analysis, insight and recommendations on the financial implications of business decisions, ensuring business performance reporting is delivering actionable insight in a timely and efficient way.
  • Establish the capability to understand and clearly communicate financial performance of the Commercial structure working hand in hand with the FP&A team
  • Challenge the organisation to deliver financial goals aligned with the Group operating and financial strategy through strategic business partnering, driving growth in top-line revenue and efficiencies in the cost base and working capital.
  • Delivery of financial planning, budgeting and forecasting for functional areas, translating the vision of the business into a long-term financial strategy and supporting the development of the strategy to drive the business.
  • Lead, engage and motivate a team, to deliver effective business partnering and stakeholder engagement ensuring performance is at a high level and our company values are reflected in how they perform their role.

WHO YOU ARE

  • A qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with PQE in a commercial finance environment
  • Proven senior experience in P&L ownership and financial planning, at a global scale, within retail, technology or the e-Commerce industry is advantageous
  • Proven people leadership and management experience, able to lead with an authentic style and ensure team delivery to high standards
  • Strong commercial acumen, with an ability to influence strategic business decisions, keeping the financial health of the business front of mind
  • A strategic mindset, with an ability to have a long-term vision with an eye on detail
  • You can self-motivate in a fast-paced and rapidly-changing environment with competing deadlines, driven to deliver results
  • A strong team player with the ability to interact and effectively communicate with those outside of Finance teams to deliver preferred outcomes
  • An authentic and empathetic people leader, with experience of building, leading and developing diverse and inclusive high performing teams
