Analytics Engineer - Analytics Hub

Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Analytics Engineer to join the Analytics Hub team. The Hub team is a centre of excellence responsible for supporting Analytics teams across the organisation to deliver actionable analytics in a scalable, governed and agile way. In this role you will be responsible for the development of central data products and act as a champion for the dbt, Big Query and Airflow. You will feel comfortable working with stakeholders, understanding their requirements, proposing technical solutions that are useful, scalable and efficient and supporting the build of data models and reporting.

WHAT YOU´LL DO

  • Help develop our scalable approach to data at Farfetch; improving, innovating and championing initiatives around: actionable insights, single version of the truth, automation, performance, data quality, harmonisation and governance
  • Work with teams from across the business to understand and translate their needs into data model designs (conceptual, logical and physical data models using industry best practices to ensure high data quality)
  • Develop, tests, review and optimise the data models owned by the team, assessing their value, performance and design
  • Monitor the ETL and regular processes owned by the team, ensuring successful completion
  • Gain an expert understanding of our chosen BI stack (GCP, dbt, Airflow, Looker)
  • Define best practices for our analytics data modelling and chosen BI stack
  • Provide training and onboarding support to Analysts and Developers
  • Support with the Administration of our BI stack (currently dbt) and provide guidance to developer communities on latest releases

WHO YOU ARE

  • Experienced in data modelling and architecture techniques for BI and Analytics (e.g. Kimball, Inmon etc)
  • Experienced in using modern cloud-based tools (GCP or Azure and DBT are preferred)
  • Expert in using SQL and BI tools to deliver insight on very large or complex datasets
  • Experienced in creating ETLs and optimising query performance
  • Some Python knowledge is preferred
  • Confident with communicating to stakeholders with varying technical abilities.
  • Active learner
  • Experienced in abiding by and contributing to Data Governance best practices, including the creation of important artefacts, such as the Data Dictionary and Business Glossary
  • History of learning and applying new techniques and technologies to solve problems
