The Opportunity
We’re seeking a Tax Assistant to join the Equity & Employment Tax team. EY offers excellent opportunities to build client relationships early in your career and to be involved in the day‑to‑day management and delivery of our services across a broad range of issues, extending beyond traditional tax compliance and advisory work.
This is an entry‑level role, and we’re ideally looking for someone with a Finance degree who is currently working in a finance‑focused role and feels ready for their next step. The successful candidate will also be supported in working towards their ATT qualification.

Your key responsibilities
- Supporting the management of client portfolios
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while delivering consistently high levels of service
- Contributing to the successful delivery of employment tax projects and ensuring technical accuracy
- Supporting the day‑to‑day delivery of both compliance and advisory work
- Assisting with business development by proactively managing existing client relationships
- Ensuring adherence to Quality and Risk Management processes
Skills and Attributes for Succes
- Prior experience working in a finance role
- A Finance or Law degree (desired)
- Enthusiastic and energetic, with the ability to embrace new ways of working
- A strong team player, able to integrate quickly with new teams
- Outgoing, with strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality work
- Strong technical aptitude with a willingness to develop further
- Ability to build strong and trusted client relationships
- Good project management capability — able to plan, prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor budgets
- Ability to identify areas of risk, conduct effective reviews and know when to escalate
- Client‑focused and commercially aware
- Strong relationship‑management skills with the ability to manage client expectations
- Creative and pragmatic problem‑solving ability
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across various situations
