The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Tax Assistant to join the Equity & Employment Tax team. EY offers excellent opportunities to build client relationships early in your career and to be involved in the day‑to‑day management and delivery of our services across a broad range of issues, extending beyond traditional tax compliance and advisory work.

This is an entry‑level role, and we’re ideally looking for someone with a Finance degree who is currently working in a finance‑focused role and feels ready for their next step. The successful candidate will also be supported in working towards their ATT qualification.

Your key responsibilities

• Supporting the management of client portfolios
• Building and maintaining strong client relationships while delivering consistently high levels of service
• Contributing to the successful delivery of employment tax projects and ensuring technical accuracy
• Supporting the day‑to‑day delivery of both compliance and advisory work
• Assisting with business development by proactively managing existing client relationships
• Ensuring adherence to Quality and Risk Management processes

• Prior experience working in a finance role
• A Finance or Law degree (desired)
• Enthusiastic and energetic, with the ability to embrace new ways of working
• A strong team player, able to integrate quickly with new teams
• Outgoing, with strong relationship‑building skills and the ability to deliver high‑quality work
• Strong technical aptitude with a willingness to develop further
• Ability to build strong and trusted client relationships
• Good project management capability — able to plan, prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor budgets
• Ability to identify areas of risk, conduct effective reviews and know when to escalate
• Client‑focused and commercially aware
• Strong relationship‑management skills with the ability to manage client expectations
• Creative and pragmatic problem‑solving ability
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills across various situations
