Our EY Global Data Protection team is seeking a qualified data protection associate to manage projects which support the team’s work in advising on and supporting on data protection matters that affect the EY Network . This includes tracking and monitoring the delivery of the core Data Protection programme and related projects.


The Global Data Protection team sits in the Global General Counsel’s office and this role involves close collaboration with other members of the Global Data Protection team and other teams within the EY network including teams who are responsible for training and awareness campaigns, incident response management and data subject access requests.

The Global Data Protection team is responsible for the implementation and transformation of EY’s data protection compliance program, which is based on EY´s Binding Corporate Rules. The team works closely with all parts of the business on data protection matters, including both personal data and the protection of client and EY confidential information.

The opportunity


As the Data Protection Senior Associate in the Global Data Protection Team, you will be responsible for project managing the team’s key processes, support of legal and regulatory compliance, notably tracking and monitoring the core Data Protection programme delivery. You will also take the lead on maintaining our Training, Awareness and Communications programme, in close partnership with our key business stakeholders and support with the coordination and handling of data subject requests received at the Global level. You will also provide key project management support on significant global data incidents, both in terms of readiness and incident response activities and processes.


You will be working closely with the core leadership of the Global Data Protection team as well as EY Regional/Local Privacy Leaders.


Your key responsibilities

  • Act as Project Manager to the Global Data Protection team, including responsibilities such as: capturing and tracking of core programme elements; organization and preparation of materials for key stakeholder reporting, coordinating and driving meetings and updates; support coordination and analysis of the results of the annual, network-wide Binding Corporate Rules confirmation of compliance exercise.
  • Provide project management support on significant global data incidents, ensuring organizational plans and resources remain up-to-date and responsive to the global organization’s needs, as well as ad-hoc support on data incidents with implications for a significant number of Member Firms.
  • Collaborate closely with Global Data Protection Leadership and key business stakeholders such as Global Information Security, Global Risk Management and Global Service Lines/Business Functions to produce compliant and effective Data Protection Training, Awareness and Communications materials and maintain up-to-date and user friendly all-staff and practitioner sites.
  • Track and monitor compliance with Privacy Impact Assessments (PIA) Action items in close coordination with the Global PIA Team.
  • Keep internal and external facing Websites and Resources up to date .
  • Coordinate and facilitate the handling of data subject rights received by the Global Data Protection Team, including request tracking and analysis.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Ideally between 2-5 years' relevant experience in private practice or inhouse legal or compliance department;
  • Strong project management and data analysis skills;
  • Well-developed skills with software suites (MS Word / PowerPoint / Excel, etc);
  • Some knowledge of data protection compliance programs and familiarity with applicable legislation in one or more jurisdictions is desirable but not required;
  • Excellent command of the English language;
  • Experience working in virtual teams and an international environment.
  • Proactive attitude and positive and curious mindset, high degree of emotional intelligence, and demonstrated aptitude for resilience, flexibility, and ability to adapt to changing circumstances and dynamics.
